myoui mina is the only child of the king and queen of japan. after her parent's death she is taken care by her father's mentor. once she turns 20, she is of age to be reigned the new queen of japan. her coronation will take place after her marriage to the neighboring prince, prince jimin of korea.
with that news, she receives a new gentleman-in-waiting which is someone that will serve or keep the princess company.
" it's such an honor to serve you, your royal highness. " tzuyu says and bows.
tzuyu handed her a bouquet of flowers, and a painting that he did.

" wow.. " mina chuckled.
" thank you. " mina says.
" it's my pleasure, princess. " tzuyu responded and bowed.
they would always be riding horses with their hands linked together.
the mountains, their favorite place to hang out. mina leans on the mountain, with tzuyu's hand on her chin and gives her a passionate kiss.
little did princess mina realize she and her new gentleman-in-waiting, chou tzuyu, will eventually fall deeply in love with one another.
the day prince jimin, arrives, mina writes a goodbye and break up letter to tzuyu since she has to fulfill her duty that her parents would've wanted her to fulfill.
jimin smiles as he sees his future wife, however his smiley face turns into a frown.
that night, mina meets with tzuyu one last time to give her that letter.
" hey tzuyu-ah.. " mina greets at the man who is currently painting someone.
" oh princess mina! " tzuyu says, the lass smiles.
mina handed him the letter.
i'm sorry, but as queen now i have a duty to uphold. this is for the best.. just know that i will never love anyone as much as i loved you. we may never be together again, our love was real and genuine. it's just too unfortunate that i met the right person at the wrong time. if i have a chance to have another life, then i'll find you. i will always love you, sincerely mina. (written in the letter.)
tzuyu reads the letter as his smile fades away.
" i'm so sorry.. " mina muttered.
" you don't have to be sorry. just be happy, and i'll also be. " tzuyu says, while holding her waist. mina wrapped her arms around tzuyu's nape. they leaned closer to each other as their lips touch, it's a sign that it's their goodbye kiss.
unfortunately, prince jimin, witnessed it and becomes angry towards tzuyu.
the very next day, when tzuyu was just outside mina's palace. he has another painting to give mina.

" princess mina.. princess? " tzuyu calls.
the prince shoots an arrow towards his stomach and tzuyu spits blood coming from his mouth. with the sound of screams and arrow, mina goes outside and sees tzuyu lying down on the ground, bleeding.
" chou tzuyu-ah!! " mina shouts while sobbing.
" you are the painting that i have always wanted to paint. it is fine as i was happy.. while painting you. " tzuyu says weakly before he shuts his eyes.
" chou tzuyu, don't leave me! " mina yells, her tears dropping.
mina never had the time to see tzuyu on her and jimin's wedding.
