A chill breeze brushed against my skin as I was walking down the street. 'School is very boring' they always say. But I thought otherwise, I thought school was an opportunity to achieve your goals and to find yourself. But what I did agree on, was that the people in school weren't always as nice as they seemed to be. That was also a lesson I taught myself, a little too well. And that's were I developed my trust issues with people.
As I was walking back home, I looked at the corner of my eye and saw a white snowball coming towards me with an abnormal speed. I wasn't quick enough which led to the white snowball hitting me in my face. It did not feel like a soft snowball but more like a ball of ice.
My body hit the ground and I saw black spots flickering in my vision. I felt my head bumping and felt my body aching. I heard a boy running towards me, again, with an abnormal speed.
''hey, are you alright?'' he asked me kindly while he grabbed my arm.
All I could see was one big blur, the ball of ice must have hit me right in the face.
''I am fine'' I lied. The boy tried to help me to get on my feet again but I rejected his offer. I got up slowly and grabbed my bag from the wet snow. My bag was drenched by the water of the snow that was already starting to fade away.
''I am deeply sorry, I meant to hit the sign above you ma'am. I am Judah''
I gave him a soft smile and returned back home. It might have been rude to ignore him but I did not care. That ball of ice really hurt me and I was almost starting to cry. I did not want that boy to see me like that.
My grandfather opened the door for me as I arrived back home.
''are you alright?'' he asked me.
I nodded and sat next to my little brother Billy.
It might have seemed that we are just an ordinary family, but we are definitely not. My father and mother left my little brother and I alone after I was just four years old.
That same night I was reading a book in my room. The soft mattress supported my back as I was laying on my bed. My stomach felt odd and different after my dinner. My head was spinning and aching while I tried to read my book. When I finally decided to put my book down, my hands started to ache really bad. Panic grew inside me while I tried shake my hands, trying to get rid of the pain. I lost control of my body and my room started to fill itself with blue light. I was very confused at first but then I saw where the light was coming from. The blue light felt warm but not hot. My muscles tightened and the light grew stronger.
There was a strong connection that led me to the basement. In the basement stood an extraordinary portal that sparkled blue light. The portal was gold with white lines on the sides, it was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen. I calmly set my foot through the portal, I did not fear at all. It felt more like I had done this several times in my life.
The portal pulled me through and it felt like I was drowning. I could not see anything but blue water surrounding me. It felt like I was in a deep ocean, that there was nothing but me.
It did not take long to feel the ground underneath my feet again. I was in the middle of a road with cars. It made sense to me that if I did not get off this road, I would be hit by a car. I ran as fast as I could and got on the sidewalk safely.
I decided to ask a stranger where I was. When I approached a stranger, the man looked very odd. Then it hit me, it was a man with the head of an animal. His head was a fox and the body was from a normal human being. As I look around, I saw everyone else having a head of an animal and their bodies as human beings. I started to panic and started running. I did not know where I was running to, but I just kept running and running.
I eventually stopped running, I looked around me and realized that I ran into a forest. There was no one there but me. I gasped and sat on my knees on the green but wet grass. I looked at the sky and wondered where I got myself into again. I was wearing my black t shirt and my dark blue jeans. I had no shoes on what made it even worse. I felt cold and exhausted. My head started spinning and my body could not be on its own strength anymore. I hit the wet green grass and passed out.
I woke up on an old couch. It smelled like old furniture that has been standing there for centuries. I did not open my eyes yet, I heard voices from the other side of the room. I looked at the voices with narrow eyes, I saw a table with four people sitting at the table. It seemed like they were arguing with each other.
''who is she? why did you bring her here?'' the only girl at the table asked.
A blond, skinny, young man shook his head.
''I thought that it could be her. We are looking for her for ages! It's time for some real action''
That must have been the person that brought me here, I thought. I looked around me and saw that I was close to a door. I waited for my chance to escape. The people at the table kept on talking.
''are you willing to take this hugh risk?'' a young man with a muscled body and curly dark blond hair asked.
''yes, trust me on this. You know I don't usually make decisions like this''. answered the young man who brought me here again.
''I believe him" a tall young man with dark hair and a long jacket said. The most handsome one of them all. ''let's do this. This might be our only chance''.
