JACKIE TRUONG HAS HER HEAD IN THE CLOUDS, her theatrical daydreams sustained by an overactive imagination. As a child, she loved to play pretend—a pastime that engendered a passion for acting when she reached her teen years. But after her mother remarries to a wealthy businessman and moved the family halfway across the country, Jackie must adjust to a snobby older stepsister and a supposedly haunted mansion while navigating Westminster Academy's unfamiliar prep school culture. Soon she is in over her head after landing the lead in the school play where everyone has ambitions to win the national theatre completion. Not to mention that she develops an infatuation with her co-lead Liam Sinclair—much to the chagrin of student director Aarav, who is quick to criticize in-cast relationships.

IN A FAMILY OF BRILLIANT ACADEMICS, Aarav Deshmukh always sticks to the script and never strays from the written path. With an organized planner detailing homework assignments and tests to study for, he's spent the entirety of his high school career earning the highest GPA possible. Life is a game of AP exam scores and lengthening his laundry list of extracurriculars. Aarav struggles to balance college applications while organizing the upcoming school performance—especially when his parents disapprove of theatre. Armed with a win-lose mentality and a desire to prove to then wrong, he is determined to lead the drama department to first place at nationals. However, when wild card new girl Jackie Truong auditions, he finds himself spiraling off the planned course and taking an unprecedented gamble.

WHEN THEIR PATHS CONTINUE TO CROSS, the two develop a steady friendship despite their differences. Through the trials of high school and teenage drama, an unlikely connection blossoms between two opposing personalities, leading to the establishment of an unbreakable bond by the time of the curtain call.
