Esmerelda sniffled to herself as she peeled her eyes open she had been haunted by another nightmare, now this wasn't a common occurrence for her yet it wasn't uncommon. She pulled herself out of bed trying to rid her self of the feelings that had arose at the particular dream.

The shrill ring of her phone made the girl run back over to her bed hoping that a certain sociopath wouldn't come to the room. Glancing at the name she sighed to herself as she answered it, "yes father?" A masculine sigh is heard on the other line. "Esmerelda." The disapproving tone in his voice made the said girl roll her eyes still annoyed by the last conversation between the two. "What?" She asks him already wanting to hang up. "Esmerelda please don't speak to me in that tone, you know I don't like it." His tired voice pleads, "why? It's not like you care about what I like." He sighs again, something he saved for his interactions with his youngest daughter.

"Esmerelda please, you know that isn't true, you know that I love you and I do what I do because I want the best for you." The strain in his voice made it clear he was trying to convince himself of the shit he was speaking. "Sure." Esmerelda could see through her father easily, "I don't understand you, I don't understand what you want from me." His voice now more agitated than tired, he was trying to keep his temper.

"I don't want anything from you other than your love, why is it so difficult for you to just love me, you show Aurora plenty of love and I'm your daughter too. All I wanted was my father, but you're never there." Esmerelda's heart pounds as she waits for a response, baring her feelings to her father never really worked out the best, the man resented feelings unless they were Aurora's.

"Esmerelda stop with this foolishness," her heart drops knowing he completely disregarded everything she had just said. "I am sick of you always feeling so sorry for yourself, you need to grow up. I give you everything you need, maybe a little gratitude would be nice, unless it's more money that you want?" Holding back a sigh Esmerelda shakes her head. "No dad I don't want any more money." She mumbles not caring about the surplus amounts he gave her, money was nice but Esmerelda had too much and she didn't know what to do with it.

Esmerelda was a fairly simple girl she wasn't materialistic like her older sister and didn't want the excess amounts of money she was given, all she wanted was for her family to love her and to at least try and understand her.

"Well I don't have time for this anymore Esmerelda, you're a waste of my time, and the next time that I call I expect less of the attitude, you have nothing to be sad about anyways. Why can't you be more like your sister? She never disrespects me in such a way." Biting her tongue Esmerelda closes her eyes trying to stop the tears from falling. "Yes father." Before he put the phone down Esmerelda heard what he muttered to himself making her heart hurt even more; "no wonder Aurora left, there's something wrong with that girl."

Shoving her face into her pillow Esmerelda tries to stifle her sobs, sick of the impact her father had on her, she shouldn't care but she did, she couldn't help it. Her father may have been awful to her but he was her father and she couldn't help but help it, because as awful as he was at least he stayed when her mother ran.

Esmerelda knew that deep down her father resented her because she was a reminder of his wife, a reminder of the woman that left him silently in the night with no explanation. It had affected him terribly he used to be a loving father but now his love was reserved for his oldest daughter, because Esmerelda knew that deep down he blamed her for her mother leaving. He wasn't wrong, Esmerelda blames herself too because she knew that her siphoning her mother had horrified the woman so much that she left, she couldn't bare to raise a defective witch.

"What a dick." Esmerelda's head shoots up to see the Gemini siphon stood in her doorway, he wasn't smirking at her like he usually did instead he had a look of understanding on his face. Quickly wiping at her eyes she looks to Kai curiously as he comes to sit on the edge of her bed. "You know he isn't worth your tears ally cat." He tell the girl who cracks a small smile at the nickname she despised. "After I kill my dad I can kill yours." He offers smiling at the laughter that escapes her. "No thank you. He may be a dick but I don't want him dead." She speaks already forgetting the way her father had made her feel. "Well the offer stands just let me know when you want to take it." He shrugs.

"You know what we should do?" Esmerelda eyes Kai curiously, "we should have a magic lesson, emotions are the best fuel for magic, we can channel your anger." He explains holding his hand out, Esmerelda glances at his hand and then his face before her gaze lowers back to his palm as she places her hand into his smiling at the non magical warmth she felt.

"Hey you didn't siphon." Kai grins at Esmerelda's progress, "that's thanks to a pretty great teacher." She beams making Kai's heart warm for the first time in his life. "What's wrong?" Esmerelda asks noticing the bewildered look on his face, "nothing." He mumbles feeling kind of uncomfortable with this new feeling.

Esmerelda sneaks a glance at her captor and smiles to herself for a second, she couldn't remember the last time she had calmed down after feeling so bad. He didn't know it but Kai had made the most positive impact on the hurting girl, and ironically he was the only person who had understood/ shown understanding for her feelings.
