My father looks like he's on the cloud nine as he strides back and forth in the room, talking on his phone while awaiting for the right moment to walk me down the aisle. Everytime my gaze falls into my reflection into the mirror, I can see my whole world briskly falling apart.

Why I'm upset when it's what I chose, for myself, for mintie?

Of course my father wasn't going to spare him without breaking half of his bones and I couldn't let that happen to him when I was the one who tried to escape. I agreed to marry anyone he chose if he would let mintie go away without causing him any harm.

Without a second thought, he agreed. Why wouldn't he? Wasn't it everything he wanted? Expand his business by trading off his own daughter.

"It's time." A deep voice resonates as a tall man steps inside the room but my father seems too busy on his phone call to notice his presence.

Why can't you have time for your daughter Appa?

Not even today when I'm marrying as your will.

"Let's go beautiful." He offers me his arm with a smile which designs his mouth in a rectangular shape. I've not seen such a smile before. It's adorable.

Smiling back, I loop my arm around him and without my father noticing, tread out of the room. As we exit the room, a short male approaches me with a smile that almost makes his eyes disappear and after I loop my spare arm around his too, two of them walk me down the aisle.

My heart pounds in my chest loudly. I'm sure both of them can hear it. I stare at the ground the whole time as if it's most fascinating thing in the entire universe. After I'm standing across my groom whom I still don't even know name of and haven't even once seen his photo, I'm staring at his black well polished shoes as if to bore a hole in them.

The veteran priest initiate the proceedings of the marriage in his calm, composed and solemn voice with a booklet clutched in his hand.

"Do you take Ms. Elle Kim, to be your lawfully wedded wife and be with her in happiness, sorrow, health, sickness till death do you part?" The priest raps on.

"I do." Follows the instant reply from the groom, unfortunately my groom.

I couldn't stop from whispering, "Lie."

Everyone says this but what happens after they get married? These dozen of words just remain as mere vows and are used to claim someone as your so called lawfully wedded wife or husband whom no one from the two later abides by.

These are all lies.

Mintie also said that he won't let me go away from me but where's he now?

Lies,

Lies

And

Only lies.

"MS. ELLE KIM what are you thinking about? Are you not happy with this marriage? Is this against your will?" The priest calls out loudly hauling me out of trance.

Yes I'm not happy with this marriage.

Yes it's purely against my will.

But I don't say this and instead reply, "I'm sorry, I spaced out."

I don't pay attention to what vows he babbles on and only mutter a simple "I do"  as he pauses.

And then follow the words I've been craving to hear.

"You, you can't be, you can't marry my daughter." I hear my father's voice and all the heads turn to his direction. In the middle of the aisle, he stand with his finger pointing at the groom and a thunderstruck expression on his face which I don't know the cause of.

"Yes, me. I can marry your daughter and I've." The man standing across me retorts back directing all the eyes on him.

"The vows are over. Now I just need to seal our marriage." He smirks.

Without letting me process anything, he turns to face me, cups my cheeks and crashes his lips on mine.
