It was a rainy day in Australia when the plane took off there was in total 400 separate students from the southwest Australian institution, they were on a Going on a trip to Japan and they were all going to u.a. the most prestigious hero school in the world, each student was confident in his or her ability to get into their chosen department, they knew the odds of them actually getting into their chosen department were against them but they were sure that they were going to shatter those odds, most of them were wrong. This large group of students were part of a small community where everyone knew everyone. inside this large group of students, there were 3 students who were saying their goodbyes to their parents these students names were Emily, Y/n, and YasminEmily held a unreadable smile at the sidelines. she had only come to Australia last year and she had been staying with Y/n and her family, and she honestly didn't like Y/n's parents, they never laid a hand on Y/n or at least not in front of Emily they but they constantly yelled at Y/n over little things, they gave her so many responsibilities and then got angry when she cracked under the pressure, Y/n sometimes had bruises on her face that Emily was sure didn't come from her tripping and Emily had found Y/n shaking and nursing a raw face on multiple occasions before. Emily didn't know much about families are supposed to act but she was sure that this wasn't the way it was meant to be. Y/n stared bitterly at her parents she asked them .
" is there anything you want to say?" they both looked down at her angrily her mum said in a snarl
" you are going to regret this for most of your life" Y/n looked down in sadness
"why can't you just be happy for me" Y/n raised her voice loud enough to draw in everyone near them into the conversation curled her hands into fists"We gave you everything! we gave you clothes, we gave you food, we gave you a place to sleep." Y/n's mother yelled, nearly everyone in the airport was now watching them. Y/n breathed in deeply and prepared herself for what was about to happen.
"if you gave us everything then why did Damian leave" Y/n's mum pulled her hand back and slapped Y/n hard. Y/n flew down to the floor everyone in the small airport turned to look at her tears fell from Y/n's eyes.
These weren't just normal tears, Y/n was letting 7 years worth out, at the realisation Y/n thought to her self has it really been that long since I cried from mum hitting me. Emily's eyes filled with determination and she stood In front of Y/n's mum and took a deep breath and yelled
"do you not get it, she's leaving, she's going off to be a hero the next time that she comes here she could be in a coffin, but the most important thing to you is. That you get one last hit in" Y/n's dad looked down at her and decided to finally speak up.
" I wouldn't expect a child to understand-" Emily cut him off
" I understand perfectly, you hit her because she has autism, you hit her because she has no way out, you hit her because she won't fight back" there was a moment of silence and then the loudspeaker sounded "due to turbulence the flight to Japan has been delayed by 1 hour." There was more silence and then so much happened in a short amount of time that it made Y/n's head spin. A short woman of about 21 years who Y/n knew to be called Jane marched up to Y/n's parents and said in a commanding voice
"get out"
Y/n's parents actually listened. she then went over to Y/n "do you need help getting up?" Y/n went to get up but suddenly Yasmin went over to her and dropped down to her level and hugged Y/n, she whispered softly"I'm so sorry." Yasmin was referring to something that had happened about a week ago and had caused a rift in the community, Y/n tried to jump off a building which was unfortunately not an unusual occurrence but this time was different, she jumped off the top of Yasmin's house and everyone saw her.
Y/n sobbed and grit out "it's not your fault."
Yasmin hugged her tighter. Yasmin helped Y/n get up and guide her to one of the airport benches and rubbed calming circles into Y/n's back until she calmed down enough to speak. The adults went off to gossip and make sure that there was no hope of Y/n's parents rejoining the community. All of the children sat down in a semi-circle around Y/n. Once Y/n calmed down enough to speak a boy named Alex raised his hand
" What is autism If it's bad enough for your parents to hit you for then I want to know what it is" Y/n gave a in-depth explanation and as she went on many faces became shocked, the explanation was followed by many people yelling out apologies. Soon they boarded the plane and found their seats they got comfortable it was a 13-hour flight after all. Y/n and her friends took a picture of the airport as the plane started flying away, it felt like a new beginning to y/n—————————
About an hour and twenty minutes into the flight y/n and her friends got sick of talking and speculating about what Japan would be like so they decided to play Uno which in hindsight might not have been the best idea for a couple of reasons.
"Y/n you motherfucker you made me plus four," screamed Emily
"She brought in a whole different card from another game for me." Yelled Yasmin with a bit of confusion as to why they allowed her to even play that card
"Well, what about me? She's been ruining my life for years now." Y/n said agitated, but she was ignored by her friends whilst they yelled about the atrocities that y/n had committed. Alex walked over to them and took the Uno cards away from them
"If you guys can't play Uno without fighting then you should just watch a movie." Y/n eyes suddenly lit up with passion which meant one of two things: she either just had a brilliant idea or she was gonna set something on fire. It was hopefully the former. "I'm gonna show you the best movie ever," she practically squealed whilst flapping her hands "Barbie: a fashion fairytale." She quickly pulled out her laptop and loaded up the movie before anyone had time to protest, Alex squeezed into a seat near them so that he could watch, Alex had apparently decided he was now part of the group and up to now he had actually been pretty decent to y/n so no one really argued when he sat down near them. The credits rolled down the computer screen and Alex spoke up
"Wow, barbie and Marie-Alice are Kinda gay for each other." Y/n started laughing
"Alex! there is literally a b-plot about barbie's boyfriend!" Alex gave her a stubborn stare and asked
"why do you even like this movie so much. I mean it's good but not the best movie ever good" in response y/n shrugged her shoulders, she lied, this wasn't her favourite movie it was (your fav movie) but for some reason, she showed them that movie. Yasmin and Emily looked at y/n with an insatiable hunger in their eyes.
"Let's watch more barbie." Yasmin screamed as Emily nodding eagerly. Y/n realised that she just opened up the pandora box of girls told that to be strong they couldn't be feminine and just found barbie and so y/n started putting on more barbie movies whilst fearing for what would happen if she refused—————————
