I just want to start off by apologizing for the extremely long wait for those that are still reading and waiting for an update! See, what had happened was... I got a little discouraged from writing it because I lost the chapter that I was writing when my computer crashed, but I'm trying to get back into the swing of this book. I hope you guys enjoy, and because it was such a long wait, I'll try to have another chapter posted in the next few days!!! Love you all!
Looking over my shoulder and into the mirror, I admired how my ass stuck out just right in my dress. It was one of the last pieces of clothing that I'd sewn together myself. The dress was short-sleeved with a checkerboard of multiple bright colors, and it covered my entire chest but left a peek of cleavage through the oval-shaped cutout, and the bottom hung loosely from my waist. I paired it with dark-blue heels and no jewelry or makeup at all.
"You look nice, babe. You ready to go?" Zorian asked, coming up to me and placing his hands on my sides. With him standing in front of me in his light-pink, maybe salmon button-up and blue jeans, we were magazine-cover worthy.
Leaning toward the dresser, I grabbed my phone while pressing myself more into him. "Yeah, you called yo' boys and let them know what's up already?"
He gave me a nod in response as he bit his lip and held my gaze. "Keep on, and I'm gon' have yo' ass bent over the dresser for real," he said, and I laughed. "Call yo' girls and tell 'em to meet us over there. I called my niggas about fifteen minutes ago, so they'll leave they spots in about ten."
"Let's go then."
After locking up the house, Zorian, Nikeya, and I got into the car and headed to Mr. Wright's house for the barbecue while I called my chicks. Within twenty minutes, we'd pulled up to a beautiful brick house with a wrap-around porch.
"Who house, Ma?" Nikeya asked, stretching her neck and leaning up to look out the window.
"A friend from Mommy's job."
Zorian and I got out, and he took Nike from the back seat and placed her on his shoulders. Together, we walked to the front door and rang the bell. Soon after, a cute, dark-skinned chick with micro braids answered the door and let us in.
"I'm Shanell. C'mon in. E'rybody out back. Hey, lil' cutie, with yo' lil' adorable self! The kids out there too. What y'all waitin' on? Come in!" she said, and Zorian and I shared a look before introducing ourselves and Nike.
As she stepped aside, the three of us walked in, and after she closed the door, we followed her to the backward. The backyard was enclosed in a privacy fence, and there was a wire gate that split the fence in half, and the right side was where the kids were playing on the swing set, a bouncy house, and in the kiddy pool. People were walking around with drinks and playing a game of beach ball volleyball in the in-ground pool. Some were even in the jacuzzi.
I only wished he would've told me it was a pool party; I would've worn a swimsuit and took a dip in the pool. There were mainly women in the pool as the men huddled in a circle, probably rolling dice. Mr. Wright manned the grill, and he stood next to a cooler that more than likely housed some type of alcohol. That was where I needed to be.
Not being prepared for a swim party didn't stop Zorian. Wasting no time at all, he'd stripped off his shirt, shoes, and jeans, dropping them where he stood, leaving him in his basketball shorts. I could tell that he had some kid in him. I'd never seen him so excited to do anything. Before he could run off to the pool, I grabbed his arm and pulled him back.
"Let's go meet my coworker before you try to make yourself at home." He gave me a sheepish grin as he rubbed the back of his head, and I picked up his clothes, folding them as we walked. We were stopped by a short, thick chick who held a grin a mile wide.
