Thankfully there was only about another 15 minutes left on this stuffy bus and then I'd be able to get off, go home and dry up, which is what I wanted more than anything right now.
I sighed, taking a look out of the window. As the bus continued to drive down the main road all I could see were a bunch of take away shops, a few corner shops and rows and rows of small, dull, pebble dashed houses. I wondered to myself how people could live in a place like this without literally being so miserable all the time. I mean, I don't want to sound like too much of a judgemental person but if you lived somewhere as rough as the estate you surely would asspire to make something of yourself, so you'd be able to make some money and get out of this area which is known as nothing other than speed bump city.
My attention soon turned back to my phone when I realised my music had stopped playing, the album I was listening to must have finished and I didn't notice because as per usual I was in my own little world. Unlocking my phone I quickly scrolled past various artists until I got to one of my favourite bands, the Stone Roses. I put their second album Stand Still on and then drifted back off into deep thought as I continued to stare out of the window.
Once again I was disturbed from my thoughts, however this time it was by somebody tapping on my shoulder. Great.. Don't people get the message that if someone has both their earphones in it means leave them alone and don't make them take the earphones out just so they can have some boring and probably pointless conversation with you? I turned around and was about to complain to the person sitting next to me for disturbing me, but I completely forgot I was sitting next to the cute guy that had got on a few stops before...
"I was just gonna say, if you're thinkin' of listening to the Roses, surely you'd be better listening to their first album. Not this sad excuse of an album " the guy remarked, laughing to himself a bit. Ouch. Did someone I don't know just make me stop listening to my favourite album of all time so they could insult it, right in front of my face? I don't exactly think that's the nicest way somebody could introduce themself.
"Not the politest way to greet someone I must say, by insulting one of their favourite albums is it now?" I retorted. The expression on the guys face quickly turned from rather amused to quite shocked and offended. Oops, I actually felt kinda bad for what I said now, considering the poor lad was probably only trying to start a conversation with me and I practically had a go at him for no reason. I guess I can blame the long day I'd had and also the bloody miserable weather for my mood.
"Oh... uhm, I didn't mean to offend you. Cos y'know you kinda seemed to get angry and I just wanted to talk to you considering by the looks of the band you're listening to you probably actually have a pretty decent music taste. It's something that's quite rare to come across now cos all you get is people listening to all the chart crap, don't you? But anyway I should probably stop rambling on now and I'll let you... uhm... get back to your music. I'm sorry, yeah. Really sorry." the guy stuttered, taking about 25 years to get his words out. Oh god, now I felt really bad.
Note to self, if a cute guy talks to you, don't be rude to them Saffron. You should also probably be extra nice to them if they're talking to you if you look the state you do at the moment, like a drowned rat. And you should probably be EVEN nicer to them if they are talking about bands you like.
"God, I'm so so sorry, I didn't mean to seem really rude and snappy. I'm really tired, I've had a long day and as you can probably tell I've been rained on quite a lot too. How about we introduce ourselves again without me being super moody. I'm Saffron, but people normally call me Saff!" I said placing my hand out for the guy to shake as a joke.
"Hi Saff, I mean Saffron. Nice to meet you, I'm Jake but you can call me Jake." The boy, who it's fair to assume is called Jake said, mocking my lame greeting. "I'm not used to shaking someone's hand when I first meet them, how very posh and how very formal" Jake laughed, as he continued to mock me.
Well, I now seemed to be on terms with the nice guy on the bus so my evening seems to be looking up a bit.
"So... what, erm? Sorry I'm really socially awkward when first talking to people." I apologised, by this point I was probably blushing so much I was the colour of a Man Utd shirt ( which is obviously red. They're also the football team I support). "Oh yeah, carrying on... what other kinds of music are you into then?" I asked, actually managing to get out a full sentence this time.
"Well, actually I listen to all that chart shit that I was telling you about earlier, like Niki Minaj and JLS and... Oh shit, my stops literally gonna come up in a minute. Saffron, do you have facebook, so we can carry on this lovely conversation we had about music?" Jake rushed.
"Everyone loves a bit of Niki, don't they?" I joked. "And yeah sure, my last name is Anderson. I'm Saffron Anderson on there, shouldn't be too hard to find" I finished.
"Thank you, and I'm sorry to rush off like this but I really can't miss my stop otherwise I won't be able to get to my friends house." Jake panted, as if he was in such a rush to get all his words out. He started to stand up and put one of his earphones back in. My guess was that he was listening to a nice little bit of Niki Minaj right now actually. "Okay, I've really gotta go now, we're at my stop! Really nice meeting you and I'll message you soon." Jake said, giving me a small wave and a smile.
"Okay, see you later. OH and nice red trainers, they really match the rest of your outfit" I called down the bus as he began to walk away.
"See you later, Saff.. Saffron." Jake stuttered, smiling at me once again.
By the time the bus pulled away from the stop I didn't even notice that we were still in the rough part of the estate. It began to play on my mind that Jake had got off in the back side of town, I hope he's safe though. I wondered even more what someone nice like him was doing in an area like this though and what kinda people his ''friends'' were if they hung around a place like this. Soon enough I was out of the dreaded speed bump city and back on the nice side of the tracks where I live.
As I got off at my stop I noticed that it had stopped raining, which was a good thing because now I wouldn't have to walk back home in the rain. When I finally got back to the house I unlocked the front door and called out to see if either my mum or my step dad was in the house but neither of them were, so I assumed they were probably at some business meeting for the evening. I would text them later and ask them what time they'd be back anyway.
While walking up the stairs to get some bits together for a well needed bath I thought to myself about how lucky I was. (I know it sounds chessy), but I couldn't help admire the lovely house I lived in that my mum, Nancy, and my stepdad Steven, had worked so hard for. I really did have it nice and easy, but however much money they had I would always value my independence and would much prefer to pay for all my clothes and records and other things I have at home with my own money from the job I have.
After I'd had my bath and I was all relaxed with a cup of tea, I took my phone off of charge and checked instagram, twitter, tumblr and finally facebook. Once I got onto facebook I scrolled through my notifications and noticed one that stood out to me 'You have a friend request from Jake Bugg' it read. Obviously I accepted it and began the routine facebook stalk. I also had a good little giggle to myself for a few minutes over Jake's second name, it was very unusual to say the least.
As I fell asleep that night I was quite happy, I'd met a cute guy on the bus, who seemed to have a good music taste and actually added me on facebook when he said he would, and he didn't just use it as an excuse to get off the bus quicker so he didn't have to talk to me anymore. Result.

Authors note...
Hey guy so comments and stuff on how this story is going would be appreciated. I kinda started this because when I was looking through wattpad I wasn't able to find any fanfic that I was actually gripped to when reading. Now, I don't know if that was just me or if anyone else has had the same problem. I'll also try and upload on this more, like if more people start reading this.
And I'm also aware it probably isn't too good but bare with me because this is the first thing I've actually ever written, haha
Thank you all, and I hope more people start reading and enjoying this more.
