OKAY UM WELL ENJOY SOME MORE ALREADY-CANON DESTIEL COS THAT’S ALL I EVER WRITE EHEHEH ALSO THE POV IS KINDA WEIRD IT’S JUST SORT OF OMNIPRESENT K~

“And now I lay me down to sleep, and I pray to Castiel.”

Dean closed his eyes, rested his chin on his hands, and began his prayer in the same sarcastic tone as usual. He supposed some religion nuts might find that offensive, but going through all the formalities seems a bit pointless when you’re in a relationship with an angel of the lord.

“Not much happened today. The only case we could find was a possible vampires nest all the way in California, we figured some local hunters could handle it without us driving cross-country. And that’s pretty much it. Boring day, same as yesterday…”

This was how Dean had been spending his evenings for the pas week or so. Right before he went to bed he’d pray to Cas, and just tell him about his day. Part of him thought this was stupid, Cas probably didn’t care about what Dean ate for breakfast, and what cases he and Sam weren’t finding. But Dean did it anyway, because he couldn’t help it, because he missed him. And another part of him couldn’t help being slightly worried that Cas might forget about him, as stupid as Dean knew it sounded. He knew that Cas was busy doing big important angel stuff, and Dean wanted to remind him he was down here on earth, one tiny un-important hunter,  who loved Cas with all his heart. Accept he never said that because he couldn’t bring himself to.

As much as he wanted to, the one thing he never did was tell Cas how much he missed him. Dean wanted nothing more then to tell Cas that he missed him and ask him to come and see him, but he didn’t. He was already afraid he might be annoying Cas with the daily prayers, and he knew Cas was busy. He didn’t want Cas to think he expected him to appear every time he snapped his fingers. So Dean endured silently missing him. Endured the tossing and turning of nightmare-filled, sleepless hours. And he never said a word. Accept tonight he couldn’t help it.

“Hey, um- I know you’re busy.” He started awkwardly. “I don’t want to bug you, but it’s just- well I haven’t seen you in forever..” Dean sighed, abandoning his casual demeanor. “I miss you, Cas. I miss you a lot. I know you have more important things to do then just spend time with me, I mean it’s not like I have anything interesting for us to do…” He paused. “I hope I see you some time soon. Goodnight, Cas. I- goodnight.” He finished hurriedly.

Dean opened his eyes and turned around quickly, flopping onto his bed.

“Idiot.” He muttered to himself. “That was a stupid idea.” He squeezed his eyes shut, ready for another sleepless night.

Cas smiled as he listened to Deans prayer. Every day he looked forward to the evening when he could hear Deans voice, well more like hear his thoughts, but same difference. These brief moments of connection were what got Cas through his grueling work as an angel.

His smile faltered as Dean went on. He could hardly believe what he was hearing, did Dean really miss Cas as much as Cas missed Dean?

Dean was about to drift off into terrible nightmares, when he felt the bed sag next to him.  He sat bolt upright, groped for the knife under his pillow and spun around, to suddenly find himself face to face with a pair of bright blue eyes.

Dean’s mouth pulled into a grin “Cas.” He breathed in surprise.

“Hello, Dean,” Cas grinned back.

They sat there smiling at each other for a moment, then Dean wrapped his arms around Cas’s waist and pulled him into a kiss. Cas tangled his fingers in Dean’s hair and sighed contentedly. He had forgotten how much he’d missed this.

Dean pulled away to look at him. Cas kept his eyes shut, resting his forehead against Dean’s.

“Dean.” He sighed again.

“You came.” Dean said, a hint of surprise in his voice.

“I always come you call, Dean.” Cas opened his eyes, smiling slightly.

Dean looked into those two endless blue orbs that seemed to glow in the dark room, wondering how he could possibly be so lucky as to call the angel before him his own. He pulled Cas close, nuzzling his face into his neck.

“You’re going to stay with me, right?” Dean asked unsurely.

Cas pressed closer to him reassuringly “Of course I am.”

“Then you might want to change into something more comfortable.” Dean said as they broke apart. Cas glanced down at the trench coat and tie he was wearing, and a moment later he was adorned in a pair of sweatpants and one of Dean’s t-shirts, his original attire folded neatly on a chair by the bed. The corner of Dean’s mouth quirked up at the sight.

“You had to go and steal my clothes?” He asked as he lay back down, pulling Cas close to him.

“I like your clothes, they’re comfortable.” Cas replied as he snuggled into Dean’s arms.

“They’re too big for you, it looks dumb..” Dean murmured. As he held Cas close he felt a calm warmth seeping through every inch of him, and he could feel himself starting to nod off.

“I love you.” Cas said quietly. Dean tried to reply, but he was already falling into the most comfortable sleep he’d has in weeks.

Cas looked up at Dean and smiled, placing a soft kiss on his forehead. “I love you.” He whispered again. He didn’t need to hear Dean’s reply, he knew what he’d say.
