A couple sometimes break up not because they don't love each other anymore, or because there is a third party. It's because they have to separate ways to save themselves, to avoid hurting each other more, to learn how to love themselves again, and be independent.

We are just starting at the beautiful Eiffel tower, not talking. I guess we are not ready to speak yet.
But we both know what should be done tonight.

Few more minutes had passed and I've decided to break the silence.
"Bakit hindi natin naiisip na pumunta noon dito? Ang ganda dito." Sabi ko at hindi inalis ang tingin sa harap.

"Yeah. We were really busy."
I smiled bitterly.

He's right.

"Naalala ko noon, sabi mo gusto mong pumunta dito kasama ang first boyfriend mo. Dream come true, eh?" Napatingin ako sa kanya, he is smiling.
I smiled too at the memory.

"Wow! Thank you, ha?" I said sarcastically but laugh a little.

"You're welcome." Pabirong sabi niya bago kami binalot ulit ng katahimikan.

I was starring at him while he was starring at the tower.

'Ang swerte ko sayo. Pero mas maswerte yung babaeng mamahalin mo pagkatapos ko.' I mentally said while starring at him.

Naramdaman niya sigurong matagal na akong nakatitig sa kanya kaya siya napalingon sa gawi ko at ngumiti ng kaunti.

"Easy lang, baka matunaw ako." Biro niya.

"Je t'aime." I said, while looking at him, for the last time. He gave me a sad smile.

"I love you." He said and a single tear escape from my left eye.

It's been a while since we said those words to each other. It sounds weird, it sounds really different. It wasn't like the 'I love yous' we'd said before.

Was it because me?
Or him?
Or maybe, because of us?

Are we seriously gonna do this infront of the Eiffel tower?

Isn't supposed the other way around?

"Let's break up." A hiccup followed after I said those words.

How did we end up like this?

"Okay. Let's break up."
