CHAPTER 5
Evans walked out of the hospital gate and started walking down the street, he was amazed on the bulkiness of many skyscrapers, he had never seen much beautiful combination of houses, roads and streets before, every now and then he was in a blink of an accident because of the irregular honking of cars that distracted him, after few walks he finally saw a restaurant, he walked in there by the aid of his crutches and sat by the table.
''What will you have sir?'' the waitress asked as she handed him the book menu, he received it and opened it, his eyes wandered for about four minutes straight and he saw nothing that he knew before
''Do you have anything that is cheap and natural, all these meals are not to my liking" he replied confidently
''Not to your liking I see, we have tea, cassavas, rice, beans, beef, and samosas, that will do I suppose'' she said in a charming and professional voice
''Rice and beans'' he replied
''Rice and beans it is, your food will be ready before you can say cheese'' She said smilingly and left
''Say what?'' he asked, the waitress was long gone, few minutes later the food arrived, he ate hastily and paid for it and left, he wandered in the streets asking to random people If they knew her sister Zena, most of them ignored him, others directed him to go ask at the police station, the sun was setting and his hope was starting to fade until he met this person.
"Hello sir excuse me" he said as he stopped him
"Yes" he replied
"Am sorry to bother you, do you by any chance know anyone known Zena, she is married in this city, I am lost and a stranger in this city" Evans asked
"Are you being serious? Married in this city, do you have a picture, a phone number or anything descriptive, her job maybe" he replied
"No I don't, her picture was stolen when I lost my bag, I had an accident and lost everything" Evans said
"Oh okay, I might know some Zena, can you tell me how she looks like?" he replied
"She is moderate height, brown in color skin tone, always wearing a hijab and has a son named Omar" he replied
"Yeah right, she lives in a big house yeah" he suggested
"Nothing I know of but I think so, she is educated" Evans replied
"Well let's take a walk shall we? It's just down this street, there lives someone with your claimed features" the man said as he directed him down the street.
They started to walk slowly, after about fifteen minutes they took a short turn and entered a small street, it was less crowded, most of the shops there were closed, there were some people outside the shops sleeping on rags and pieces of boxes, "Does these people sleep here? Outsid..." Evans said but before he could finish the sentence he was suddenly head butted on his nose, he fell down bleeding, as he was still wondering his companion the other man searched him and took all his belongings. "Welcome to the city boy, and ah yes these people...well you gonna find out that yourself pretty soon!" said the man rudely and disappeared into the streets. Evans cried bitterly and loudly, he now had nothing and didn't know where and how to find her sister. Few hours passed and he started to feel sleepy, he had nowhere to sleep so he crept beside one homeless guy sleeping outside a closed shop, the man chased him away while threatening to clobber him, he walked further and sat beside a lamppost. "You must be new here, right?" asked a boy sleeping beside him, he looked at him and said nothing, "You deaf or something?, coz you gotta be deaf or else your silly ass is going to be sorry cuz!" the boy said angrily,
"Let me guess, this is your spot, I have to leave" Evans replied coldly
