Yoongi walked to school just like he did any other day. Skipped breakfast, like normal, and wore the same old back hoodie and ripped jeans.
Yoongi shuffled through his playlist and settled on listening to My R.
He tapped his fingers on his thigh to the beat, humming quietly the lyrics he knew all too well.
He continued to walk down the familiar path tp school, his mind full of worry but also some kind of strange excitement. He wasn't able to have any contact with Hoseok, Joon, Taehyung, Jimin, anyone at all for nearly a month. He doesn't even know if they knew of the news of him still being alive.
How will they react? Will they be happy? Blame themselves? Yoongi wasn't sure.
Yoongi rounded a corner and faced the school. The same people were in their morning spots waiting for the doors to open. Chatting aimlessly like nothing was wrong.
Looking to the left, he saw a group of four talking amongst themselves near a tree. Yoongi immediately knew who those people were.
The first one to see Yoongi across the street was Joon. Yoongi couldn't make out his expression, but it looked something like a mix of happiness and guilt. The second and third people to see were Jimin and Taehyung. Jimin looked to be on the verge of tears while Taehyung was just rendered speechless.
Yoongi crossed the street and paused his music, taking out his headphones and shoving them into his hoodie pocket.
"Um.." Yoongi started, unsure of what to say to the group. "H-hi, again..."
Everyone stood there, speechless. Yoongi tried predicting their response , but everyone's faces were unreadable.
Jimin was the first one to speak up, tears in his eyes.
"I'm so glad you're back..."
Jimin went in for a hug, but Yoongi stopped him.
"Please," he started, holding out his arm that wasn't broken. "No hugs... please. My arm still hurts, and I'm not in the right mindset to accept pity or care right now. I hope you understand."
Jimin only nodded, backing away next to Taehyung.
"So you really... oh god," Taehyung covered his mouth with his hand. "Is there anything I- wait, nevermind. Sorry. You've been through a lot. I have no place to ask that."
"You didn't know... It's okay, I get it," Yoongi weakly smiled. "I'm sure it's hard knowing of someone.. like me."
Yoongi turned to Joon who hasn't said anything yet.
"Don't be upset, Joon. Nothing you would've said could've changed that outcome."
Namjoon looked at Yoongi in the eyes.
"But I was able to save you last-"
"This was different. I'm sorry."
Namjoon only nodded and decided not to say anything else. The only thing he was able to do was study Yoongi's bony figure.
'Please... don't put me through all this pain again, Yoongi.' Namjoon thought. 'You have no idea how many people care...'
Yoongi turned to see Hoseok leaning against the tree, purposely not looking at Yoongi.
Yoongi decided to walk up to him and attempt at fixing things.
"Hey, Hoseok," Yoongi started. "I- you know I missed y-"
"Bullshit."
Yoongi's eyes widened at Hoseok's unsuspecting response.
"I- what?"
"Do you know how much guilt I feel? Knowing I was- y'know."
"No, please, Hobi. It wasn't your fault.. entirely."
"Entirely? So I did have a part in all.. this."
"N-no. Well, maybe? Y-yes? I-I don't know,"
Yoongi stammered. "I'm sorry, okay? I trusted you and I overreacted. I didn't mean to-""Didn't mean to try to fucking kill yourself?" Hoseok snapped, eyes locked on to Yoongi's. "I'm sorry, Yoongi. After all... this, I just can't do it anymore."
"No, Hoseok, please-"
"Let's try to just be friends, if that's even manageable."
"Hoseok, I-"
The bell interrupted Yoongi making Hoseok storm off before the group. Yoongi just stood there, watching his boyfrie- now current ex disappear into the crowd of students.
Everything was so surreal. It felt as if this was all just some fucked up dream. Surely this isn't reality, right? Hoseok would never... would he?
Yoongi just stood there, silent tears rolling down his checks. Joon tried to say something to him, but all Yoongi said back was a weak, "I got to head to class"
Yoongi speed walked through the hallways, tears blinding his vision, but he didn't care.
The only person in his life that he trusted wholeheartedly, was gone.
