Yay!! Chapter One is finally here!

I do realize it took me forever, and I'm sorry, but I'm not a very fast writer as many people will assure you so I'm sorry if I slack a bit.

But now, onto Chapter One!

Third Person

Liam lay in bed next to Zayn, staring up at the ceiling. Statistically, life should have been getting better for the deflector turned vampire. They had defeated the Insiders and Liam and Zayn were in love, or at least that's what they believed. They seemed to be having the perfect life and the perfect relationship but it all seemed off. Liam's crazy blood cravings were getting worse, and he seemed to have no way of controlling them. The had preyed on a few innocent humans since his transformation an although his conscience told him otherwise, he seemed to have no regrets which was weird, considering Liam was usually such a compassionate and loving person. In a right state of mind he would have felt very sorry for his actions, but his craving for blood was too unbearable. Zayn had said they were natural at first, but as time went on, Liam had not learned to control his urges, and Zayn had become increasingly worried. He had tried to keep it from Liam, but Liam could see it in his eyes, not to mention their special connection.

Over the last few months, Liam had almost memorized all the cracks in the ceiling, due to Times like these. He even had names for some of them, while others looked like constellations, and others were just random squiggles. There was something about that ceiling though that just caught Liam off guard. It reminded him of something, but he had never been able to put his finger on it. At first he had thought it might have reminded him of a human brain, or an old painting, or cracked glass, but nothing seemed to fit perfectly.

As Liam was thinking about his cracked ceiling, he felt his stomach grumble, or rather heard it. Zayn did too, apparently because he suddenly jumped slightly and rolled over to look at Liam.

"Are you really that hungry already?" Zayn asked, a worried expression on his face. Liam nodded solemnly at the memory of his midnight snack: five O negative blood bags. Even the strongest stuff didn't seem to fill the poor boy up.

"Liam, I'm really getting worried about you. Maybe I should take you to Perrie?" Zayn suggested. Liam just shook his head.

"I'm sure I'll be fine. Maybe it's just the deflector in me?" Liam speculated but was sceptical of the proposition himself.

Zayn huffed, "Why can't I just take you to go see Perrie? What's the harm in that?"

"I told you, I'll be fine." Liam reassured him with a small peck on the lips.

"Fine, but if this goes on for much longer, I'm taking you to Perrie."

"Yes mom."

"I'm not joking around here."

"Of course not."

Zayn sighed again and threw off his comforter, revealing his boxer clad body. He swung his legs over the side of the bed and put his head in his hads, rubbing his face in frustration and exhaustion. Liam sighed also and gently wrapped his arms around Zayn. He kissed his neck affectionately and buried his nose in Zayn's hair.

"I'm going to be fine Zayn. It's all going to be alright. There's no reason to worry about me. I can take care of myself." Liam reassured him.

"I know Liam, I'm just scared for you. For us." Zayn admitted in a slightly quivering voice. "Just promise me that if your cravings don't subside that you will let me take you to Perrie." Zayn turned his head to look at Liam, their noses almost touching.

"I love you and I want you to be safe and happy and healthy." Zayn proceeded, giving Liam a smal peck on the nose.

Liam nodded before saying, "I promise. Now can we go hunting?" Zayn just smiled and nodded.

"Where are you two going?" Louis asked as Zayn and Liam stormed down the stairs like two little boys ready to go play in the snow. He himself was just finishing a breakfast of cereal while Niall was still asleep.

"Hunting." Liam answered quickly, eager for the taste of fresh blood.

"But you just went hunting yesterday." Louis said a but worried. All this hunting wasn't good. It could give them away and that was a bad idea.

"Well, we're going today as well." Liam said almost with a forceful growl.

"Mate, there's no need to get feisty." Louis put his hands up in mock surrender.

"Good because I wasn't." Liam said and rushed out the door before a reply even came to Louis' mind. Zayn just stood there, looking a bit hurt and confused.

"Have you talked to him about seeing Perrie?" Louis asked Zayn.

"Yeah. He said he would go if his cravings didn't go away but he's been on the moody side lately. I don't know what it is." Zayn sighed. Louis just shrugged. Liam was a strange one, that was for sure. One day he was happy go lucky and caring, the next an absolute beast.

"I think you should take him soon." Louis suggested, worried for his friend's welfare.

"I do too." Zayn agreed and left Louis to finish his cereal in peace.

Liam ran through the woods at breakneck speed, searching frantically for anything living. A squirrel, a rabbit, a deer, even a human. His craving for blood was high and the adrenaline pumping through his veins just made it worse. Then he saw it. A flash of fluorescent orange. Bingo.

Liam stopped in his tracks to see a campsite, no more than 50 meters away. He quickly turned and ran for the campsite. He pounc3ed on the tent. A scream emitted from it. Liam tore the tent open, his strength enhanced by his craving. There was a helpless hunter inside, trying frantically to grab his gun but he was no match for the hungry vampire. Before he could even more an inch, Liam had already latched onto him with his fangs and was greedily draining the poor man of a vital life necessity. The hunter twitched in agony but eventually went limp and died.

Zayn suddenly came up behind his boyfriend and shook his head.

"I thought we said just squirrels and rabbits today?" Zayn sighed for what seemed like the millionth time that day.

Liam let go of the dead hunter and looked at his disapointed boyfriend. "I know but he just looked so good and- and I just couldn't help myself." He looked down at the blood stained ground and wiped his mouth guiltily.

"That's it. I'm taking you to Perrie." Zayn said and grabbed his boyfriend by the arm.

"NO!" Liam shouted, jerking his arm out of Zayn's grip. "Just leave me alone. I'll be fine." Liam's breath was ragged and his eyes wild.

"Fine." Zayn said,a tear threatening to fall from his eye. "i'll just leave you alone then." He said and stalked off. Liam just sat there and wallowed in self pity.
