-"Cass, I'm sorry, okay? I don't know what came over me. Come on, it was just a fight! I always get into fights. It's not a big deal. Why are you angry..? " - Dean was trying to apologize to Castiel and earn his "angel forgiveness". But the Angel of the Lord, who was sitting on the bed with his arms crossed, remained silent. Rolling his eyes after every Dean's sentence, showing the hunter that he's done with this.
They were arguing again after Dean got into a fight when some jerk called Castiel a dick because of his clothing. Dean, as a very caring BF, tried to stand up for his angel. Despite Cass telling him not to pay attention to that guy, Dean still jumped onto the man with his tightly clenched fists. He knew that Cass disliked people who disliked his trench coat because he keeps it as he appreciates everything related to Jimmy, his vessel.
-"Dean, you assbutt." - Castiel thought and sighed - "I don't even know how I ended up dating him. Well, either way... Dean did that for me, so I shouldn't be angry at him, I should be thankful. He stood up for me..." - he continued thinking and then looked up at Dean, who was still looking at Cass with puppy eyes.
-"Dean, I appreciate your concern, but please, don't put yourself in danger because of such silly things." - he finally spoke up with his calm deep voice and a straight face.
-"It's not silly, Cass" - Dean replied and slapped the bedside table - "He called you a dick! That son of a bitch just had to be punched! He asked for that!"
-"Promise me you will no longer get into fights okay? I hate it to see you get hurt." - Castiel smiled softly and put his warm hard onto Dean's. The hunter sat down next to his angel onto the bed and said:
-"Yes, I promise" - he squeezed the angel's hand and hugged him. Cass wrapped his arms around Dean and backed onto a few pillows on the bed, making himself comfortable. Surrounded by the warmth of the angel's body, Dean quickly fell asleep. A peaceful sleep with beautiful dreams.
Dean is constantly tense, but with Cass around, he can relax and forget all of his worries, because he knows that his angel would do everything to protect him. And this night he was here to keep his human's peace again.
When Dean fell asleep, Castiel put his hand onto Dean's head, joining his dreams. Angels don't sleep and can't see dreams. Castiel used to have dreams when he was human and now he misses that. Usually, Dean's dreams aren't happy. Those are nightmares. Since their life is already a nightmare, every time Dean falls asleep on Cass' chest, the angel uses his power to change those terrifying nightmares to some kind of happy dreams. He's not as strong as an archangel to control Dean's mind and change his dreams as his angel would want, but as a seraph, he could at least soften the nightmares - change them to happy memories. Light the dark that Dean was lost in with his angel grace and lead him away from the path of despair and fear to the path of warmth and happiness.
That's the thing Cass has liked to do since he and Dean started dating. Join his dreams like he's done it a long ago. Both were connected and both were sleeping. Like a Heaven for two. Dean's never realized his angel was in his dreams himself. He's been thinking that he's been having good dreams because their life is coming back to normal. No apocalypse, that they used to have to end. No more mutilated bloody corpses, that they used to have to examine every week. And nothing is left in their world that would mean harm to them as they've won the War. But Cass knew that it was him to help Dean sleep peacefully.
Of course, Sammy never disturbs them. Every time he notices them sleeping like that together, he quietly takes a photo of them and has already taken more than a hundred cute photographs. But has never woken them up by storming into his brother's room as he respects their privacy. Sam knows that Dean's been through a lot, and he deserves some comfort and love in his life. Everyone's worthy enough for that, especially hunters.
Castiel finally appeared in a cold and quiet place - Dean's dream. Angel looked around and saw his human. The hunter was sitting on the Impala's hood, drinking his favorite beer and watching the nature around the deep large lake.
-"Ah, it's Michigan lake. What a beautiful view. I know, Dean likes it here because it's quiet. I like it here too. I know that he is safe." - walked towards the car - "It's two thousand thirteen? After the purgatory. Good." - he said to himself as he looked onto the car's numbers.
-"Hello, Dean" - Castiel spoke up as he approached the hunter.
-"Dammit, Cas!" - Dean got scared and almost spilled out his beer as he didn't hear Cas approach him - "We've talked about this!" - he angrily said and turned away.
-"My apologies, I didn't mean to scare you. Are you waiting for someone? Where's your brother?" - Cas looked around, pretending to be looking for Sam.
-"No? I'm not waiting for anyone" - he sighed, thinking that he actually was waiting for Cass to come - "Sammy's at home doing some research. Just needed some fresh air." - he pointed at the sky. It was cloudy. The Grey sky looked depressing, just as everything in here.
-"Why are you here, Cass?" - Dean asked the angel.
-" I was just... checking up on you. You seemed to feel pretty bad the last time we met. I needed to make sure you're okay" - the angel answered, panicking a little bit.
-"Just checking up huh? You know what Cass? You're strange. Even since all of these situations with the tablets and your sudden rescue out or Purgatory by that stupid angel. Well, at least I'm happy to have you here. Strange or not." - Dean chuckled a little bit. The angel kept staring at him, not daring to come any closer yet.
-"Join me, sit here, I guess you're not going anywhere by now are you? Since you've already here." - Dean lightly slapped Impala's hood beside him. Castiel squinted and carefully placed himself next to Dean. They both stared at the mountains.
- "Hey, want some? I don't know if you angels like it" - Dean held out one more beer.
-"Thanks," - Castiel replied and took the bottle from the hunter's hand.
They kept drinking beer and talking about the tablets and prophets, about what is going to happen to Sam after the trial, about Crowley and his whereabouts, and many more things. Until Dean suddenly changed the subject, as his voice dropped low, and his expression changed to a kind of shy and unsure.
-"Hey, Cass, I just.. uh... I think have something to tell you... I had something to do. When we were out searching for a tablet... May I do and tell it now?" - he asked, leaning in closer to Cass's face.
-"Do what, Dean?" - the angel turned to him and tilted his head, playing stupid - "Dean, why are you so cl-"
But he was silenced by a very light kiss. A very shy Dean's kiss. Cass's eyes widened as soon as a little drop of Dean's saliva slipped between his lips. So many emotions and feelings rushed through his heart and his angelical blush appeared on his face. He and Dean have done it thousands of times already, but now it was different. He noticed how unsure was Winchester about it. Cass didn't hesitate. He went along with him. The angel didn't pull away, didn't freeze, but started answering. It seemed to him that Dean was surprised and wasn't expecting Cass not to fly away.
-"I wanted to say that you matter to me. I... love you, Cass." - whispered Dean as he pulled away to breathe some air before clinging onto Cass one more time.
-"I know." - the angel smiled and ran his fingers through Dean's hair - "I know."
They sat on the Impala's hood the rest of the day and all night in a tight embrace, resting their weary heads on each other's shoulder. And even when Dean woke up, he was still in Cass's arms. A smile appeared on his face. He felt safe. He felt happy.
