For a little bit of context, I'm 19 now and this all happened 3 almost 4 years ago. I was a 16 year old girl who would take the first chance at anything. So when I got a new job I didn't think it would turn out the way it did, and if I did know I would've gotten out of that town as soon as possible.
I had just moved to a new town in New Hampshire because my parents told me I needed a new job somewhere that was close to home incase something happened. So I decided to by a nice little house to live in at least for the time being. I unpacked everything and I felt comfortable. Later that night I decided to look online for some jobs close by.
That's when I saw the inn that was around the corner. The Rivers inn was hiring and I thought it was the perfect opportunity. So, I texted the number that was on the website and waiting a couple of minutes. Approximately 6 minutes later I got a text saying, "okay, meet tomorrow, 8?" I answered "yes" then plugged my phone into my charger seeing that it was on 15% probably from not charging it all day.
I changed into some cozy pjs and climbed into my warm bed. I've watched enough horror movies to know that you should lock your doors, window and anything else incase a killer or stalker tries to get in. I was more relieved knowing I'm safe in this tiny house.
That morning I woke up at got ready since I had 30 minutes until I needed to be there. I walked into my kitchen, making sure I have everything before grabbing my phone and a muffin, then headed out to the inn.
Once I got there I threw away the trash I had and saw a man waiting at the door. "Hello" I said catching his attention. "Hello, are you here for a job interview?" The man asked. He was a man in his 40s with a short beard and kept together hair. "I'm John, and you are?" I hadn't realized I never told him my name.
"I'm Katie, nice to meet you John" we shook hands and i saw him smile. I couldn't help but feel weird, but brushed it off as he was just being polite. We walked inside and went into his office. I sat down on one of the chairs facing his desk, while he sat in his office chair.
I'm not going to say anything he said because it was private stuff about the inn that I could possible get sued if I said. But long story short, I got the job and I met my coworkers. I got the front desk job, which I'm happy with because I love people and I love interactions.
After a long day of talking and greeting people, I finally got home. Once inside, I locked the doors and windows because I feel like I'm getting watched. I re-heated some chicken fettuccine I had in my fridge, and then I sat on my couch watching Netflix. About a hour into the movie I was watching, I heard tapping on my window that was next to my door.
I called the cops because I'm paranoid of everything. After about 10 minuets they knocked on my door. "We found no one ma'am. If it makes you feel better we will have a undercover cops down the street to make sure your okay." The cop at the door said. I nodded and they left.
I sat back down on my couch and after about another house I felt the cold breeze on my back. I turned around and saw that my back door was open. I grabbed a kitchen knife before going over to the door and shutting it.
