"No no no no Vincent! " I cried out but my voice seems to be stuck that only whispers of it came out.
"Eika? Eika, are you still there?"
I heard Brea's voice from my phone that I accidentally dropped awhile ago. Her voice was getting clearer as I tried to gather myself, but the shock and horror of the scene in front of me made me unable to move from the sofa.
My trembling hand tries to reach out for my phone, and as I gather some strength, I then place it onto my ear and tried to speak but my voice seems to only produce a small sound of airy whispers.
"Brea....Vincent.. is..."
"What is it? What happened?! Eika?"
I try to speak but I can't seem to remove my eyes from the sight in front of me. I can see Vincent's eyes staring back at me. He seems to be alive but I know that won't be possible.
"Eika what happened? Talk to me please." Brea said worriedly since I haven't talk nor reply from her questions. The only words I was able to mutter out despite the fear and shock I am experiencing was
"Br-brea.....Pl-please call for help ....Vincent is...."
Few minutes after I told that to Brea, sirens were heard around our house
my house. The blue and red lights illuminate the dark parts of the house and the study where I am. An officer came and escorted me towards the ambulance outside the house. Yellow tapes were then surrounded the house and I was accompanied by the medics while they try to calm me from what I've seen.
Few moments after I've calmed myself and was able to compose myself, an officer then came to me asked some questions regarding the incident inside the house.
"Good evening Ma'am, I'm sorry for your loss. I know this might not be the right but I'd like you to answer few of my questions."
"Okay." I weakly said in reply.
"Ma'am, where were you an hour ago?"
"I was at my parents' house in Delft since we were celebrating..my birthday"
I answered in sadly tone as I realize what just happened on the day of my birth. As I answered, he then wrote on his police notepad.
"Were there any suspicious person or people in the area when you came home? Or anything suspicious at all?" He continuous to ask more questions
Then I realize that there was a car that I saw leaving our street, but I'm not sure if it came from our house.
"Ma'am?" the officer called as I was deep in my thoughts.
"Ah yes yes there was" I surprisingly reply.
"I saw a car that drove out from our street as I was about to enter it. I think it was a Kia...I really don't remember the plate though..."
"May I access your black box for the footage?" he asked
"Oh yes yes sure" I replied eagerly. He then called for someone
"Hey Lou, check the black box of her car there and look for a Kia...." He then talks to his I think co-worker and then I suddenly remember
....oh yes there was another thing
"Officer!" I called out
"Yes Ma'am" He replied
"Actually there was another thing that keeps on bothered me...It was the door at our garage... it was slightly opened and the place where he...died.."
"Yes, Ma'am," He said while he eagerly waits for my words and answers.
"He was in my study....and he rarely goes into that room since he knows that it is my space.."
"Hmm alright Ma'am, Thank you for your cooperation. We will try our best to solve this case." He then wrote more of my words on his notepad and assured me that it will be alright.
Now that I have myself composed and I have my rational mind back, I started to wonder why Vincent in my study.... and it seems like it was staged or something....
I started to reflect and as I was deep in my thoughts Brea came
"E.K. are you okay?" Brea asked as she tries to comfort me with a hug..
Hearing those words are you okay...tears then fell and I started to cry.
As I was crying, Brea then led me into her car and settled me inside. She then was called by the officer who then told her that I'm still in need for more questioning in their office. I saw Brea quarrel with the officer of how they were insensitive and so on.
But I then opened my phone...his picture flashed as he was my home screen. The picture of us together in the Keukenhof gardens, the picture we took just a week ago, the day before he went to his business trip in London.
I then again burst into tears as I realize that I just lost my partner....my future partner....
Author's note: I apologize for not putting more details on the interrogation part of the officer....also what do you think happened to Vincent?
