I was not even home for an hour when Jake came knocking on my door. I seriously thought about not answering it but I decided to anyways because he was going to pay me. I was going to make sure he made some form of a down payment.

"Come in," I said opening the door wider for him.

"Thanks," he said taking a step inside and looking around. "Nice house."

I rolled my eyes. "I bet it's nothing compared to yours."

Jake shrugged. "You're right about that."

"Asshole," I said.

"I heard that."

"I said it loud enough."

"You're mean you know that."

I shrugged. "I haven't eaten. What do you expect?" I pointed to the black leather couch. "Now sit and wait for me."

Jake sat down. I went into the kitchen for some food. Mom still hadn't gone shopping which meant there was barely any food. However I did find some ice cream in the freezer. So I grabbed a spoon and walked out to the living room. I plopped down on the couch right next to Jake.

"Alright so you wanted to talk about some ground rules?"

I nodded, while sticking a spoonful of ice cream in my mouth. "Yup."

"Okay well what are they?"

I shrugged. "I haven't really thought about them yet."

"Well think."

I sighed. "I really hate you right now."

"I don't care."

"Whatever," I said taking another spoonful of ice cream.

"Can we just get on with this now?"

"Sure. Okay first rule, you have to pay me twenty bucks per date."

Jake nodded. "I thought we already established that but okay."

"Second," I said tapping my index finger against my lips. "Any special appearances, such as pool parties, football games, or any other regular parties is gonna cost you an extra twenty bucks."

Jake sighed. He ran a hand through his dark hair, making it stick out in weird places. "Fine. Next?"

"Third rule, the farthest we go is kissing. And for each kiss it's ten bucks."

"Damn girl, you're gonna make me broke by the time I get with Jules."

My mouth dropped open. He was trying to go after the new girl? The girl who even transferred to our school in the first place because of her boyfriend.

"You're going after Jules Patridge? Really?"

A blush creeped up Jakes neck. "Maybe."

I shook my head. "Good luck getting her."

Jake gave me a flat look. "This is why I'm asking for your help."

"I'm not pretty enough to make Jules jealous."

Jake rolled his eyes. "That's what you think. Anyways, anymore rules?"

"That's all I can think of right now. If I come up with anymore I'll let you know."

Jake nodded. "Sounds good. Now my turn," he said with a smirk.

"What?"

"You didn't think I'd make a few rules of my own?"

I shook my head. He had completely caught me off guard.

"First, you must come with me to parties. Second, if I want a kiss in public, and I mean at school, then you have to kiss me." I grimaced at that. "Third, you have to wear my football jersey to games." That I could handle. " Fourth, you need a new wardrobe." I looked down at my clothes. There was nothing wrong with what I was wearing. "Lastly, you have to be nice to me and act like you're in love with me."

I let out a deep breath. All this better be worth it. I better be getting paid a lot of money. "A new wardrobe?"

Jake nodded. "Sorry babe, but your clothes are to depressing."

I rolled my eyes. "Fine. But I'm not paying for those new clothes."

"Then I'll pay for them."

"Yeah, you are."

Jake chuckled.

"I also want a down payment."

Jake's eyebrows rose up. "A down payment?" he repeated carefully.

I nodded. "That's what I said."

Jake pulled his wallet out from his back pocket. He looked inside and pulled out two bills. "All I have is a hundred."

I grabbed it from his hand. "That'll work."

Jake stood up. "So it's settled then."

I got up to so that I could shake his hand once more to make this deal official. "It's settled."

Jake was about to take my hand when I remembered one last thing.

"Oh! Wait!"

He looked at me confused. "What?"

"My last rule. You can't fall in love with me. Absolutely no feelings."

Jake looked down at my hand. "Deal," he said then shook my hand. "This starts tomorrow," he said as he left out the front door.

I fell back onto the couch. What had I just done?
