A Day of the Visionaries
Encouraging every Christian to carry a vision for God.
Sermon outline:
The Goal:
21st Century Christians ought to become visionaries
Habakkuk 2:2-3
"Then the Lord answered me and said:
“Write the vision
And make it plain on tablets,
That he may run who reads it.
For the vision is yet for an appointed time;
But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie.
Though it tarries, wait for it;
Because it will surely come,
It will not tarry."
Though the vision tarried, it shall come to pass.
The word vision in is verse is the word : châzôn * khaw-zone' * and it means, a sight (mentally), that is, a dream, revelation, or oracle: - vision.
It is a mental sight, a dream, a vision, a revelation, an oracle, a prophecy (1 Sam 3:1; Mic 3:6).
1 Samuel 3:1
"Now the boy Samuel ministered to the Lord before Eli. And the word of the Lord was rare in those days; there was no widespread revelation."
Proverbs 29:18
" Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint;
But happy is he who keeps the law." (NKJV)
Proverbs 29:18
Where there is no vision [no redemptive revelation of God], the people perish; but he who keeps the law [of God, which includes that of man]—blessed (happy, fortunate, and enviable) is he. (AMP)
Proverbs 29:18
" Where there is no prophetic vision the people cast off restraint, (Or the people are discouraged) but blessed is he who keeps the law." (ESV)
Without vision people perish and loose restraint
Micah the prophet lamented in his days the corruption that was evident in the land that made even the priests and the prophets to go into a slumber such that they could not hear anything and the people of the land suffered.
Micah 3:6
" “Therefore you shall have night without vision,
And you shall have darkness without divination;
The sun shall go down on the prophets,
And the day shall be dark for them."
And look at what The Lord said would happen because of lack of prophetic revelation or vision.
Micah 3:12
" Therefore because of you
Zion shall be plowed like a field,
Jerusalem shall become heaps of ruins,
And the mountain of the temple
Like the bare hills of the forest."
But Micah declares that he has access by the Spirit to hear prophetically, God's word. This is our portion in Jesus name.
Micah 3:8
" But truly I am full of power by the Spirit of the Lord,
And of justice and might,
To declare to Jacob his transgression
And to Israel his sin."
But it shall not be so for this generation. The Lord is pouring His Spirit upon all flesh that we may become a a visionary people.
