˗ˏˋ "i hate being all sappy.." 'ˎ˗

when aurora had gotten home from the restaurant, she jumped on her couch, tired and ready to go to bed.

she wondered when she would finally be on talking terms with spencer.

well, she wouldn't have to wonder anymore.

there was a knock on the door, she figured it was penelope or enrique so she still keeps her eyes closed and yells, "it's open."

aurora hears the door open, but doesn't open her eyes, "identify yourself." she mumbled.

"uhm, it's spencer."

she quickly sits up, "oh- hi."

"hey.." he gave a small, nervous smile.

aurora rubs her eyes, as he closed the door behind him.

"sometimes i wonder if you even like me.. sure feels like you hate me sometimes.." spencer sighed as he took a seat next to her on the couch.

she fidgets with her rings, and avoids eye contact.

"i don't hate you.. i could never hate you spence.."

"i'm so sorry, aurora. im sorry for not even sending you one text all this time, and i'm sorry for not even telling you why i walked out..." he sighed as he reached over to grab her hand.

aurora didn't move her hand, just let his lay on hers.

the comfort it brought, made her get those butterflies that she had forgotten.

she didn't want to mention maeve, hoping he'd just explain.

there was a small silence before he sighs and started taking. "a few months ago, i was in a dark place. i was debating whether or not i even wanted to be apart of the bau anymore... i stopped sleeping, i didn't eat as much, and i was running on coffee. and that's all. i tried working and working, trying to get my mind off of, something that happened.."

"spence you don't have to tell me.." aurora assures as she grabs both of his hands and holds them.

"no no.. i do, you deserve to know why i walked out. the whole story." he continued, "i was talking to this girl, maeve, for a long time, months and months. and i.. she was killed in front of my eyes. i hadn't even.. talked to her in person nor seen what she looked like until she was held at gun point."

he gulps, trying to hold back his tears. "not too far along when i was trying to recover from what happened, you came along. and aurora.. you're the best thing that has ever happened to me. i'm not good with words, but you make me feel, more than beyond what words can explain..."

"..i walked out because.. i care about you so much. so so much. and every time i finally have something good in my life, it always just.. doesn't go my way. i distanced myself because i don't want to lose you like i lost maeve. you're like my best friend, and i have no idea what i would do without you aurora."

spencer looks down at his feet nervously, and there was a long silence after, showing he was done.

"hey spence.." aurora breathed as she placed her thumb on his chin, guiding him to look at her.

his eyes went soft, and vulnerable. making her heart ache more.

"i'm not going anywhere, alright? i'm always going to be here."

aurora pulls him into a tight hug, hugging back, she could hear him sniffling.

she rubbed his back, "you're alright spence."

"i.. uhm.." he wipes his tears as they pull away from the hug. "can i stay over?"

aurora nods with a soft smile, "of course."

the two were now on the couch, blanket over them and watching doctor who.

she had her head on his shoulder, and his on top of hers. under the cover, holding hands, their fingers were intertwined.

spencer was happy; happy that he finally had aurora back, and that he got all of that off of his chest. essentially though, spencer always was when he was around her. he couldn't help it, and he couldn't stop it even if he could, even if he tried. not that spencer wanted to, he wanted to feel the way she made him feel, forever.

and spencer was hoping aurora felt the same way, hoping that she gets as excited when they hang out, even if it's for a bit. little did he know, she does. it's quite obvious, but he doesn't really pay close attention nor does he recognize it.

"you know, i hate being all sappy but.." aurora began, as she looks over at him. "i missed you a lot spence."

spencer smiles, "i missed you too."

"you know i'm always here for you right? no matter what it is?"

he nods, "i know. thank you rory."

"oh my god!" she quickly got up and made her way to the kitchen bringing over a plate with her many cookies. "i've been baking a lot recently, and i wanted you to try some of my cookies."

she was smiling cheekily, which made him feel warm and he couldn't help but smile back.

she sets it on the coffee table, and he reaches over to grab a snickerdoodle.

spencer takes a bite, and he was pleasantly impressed.

"mmm.." he ate the remaining of it before talking, because he had to finish it, it was that good. "that was amazing rory, did you make that yourself?"

aurora nods as red tinted across her cheeks, "yup!"

"is this how you were spending your time when we weren't talking? because that's amazing."

proudly she smiled and nodded, as she sat back down next to him.

the two spent the night, eating cookies, drinking their hot chocolate, and continued watching doctor who. it was as if nothing had gotten between them, and on both ends, they were just happy to have each other back.

but spencer was admiring aurora as she ranted about something random, and he couldn't help but ask himself, so when do i ask her?
