Venus was in the study room of her school, late Monday afternoon.
It was a huge room with a main desk settling in front with small rectangle shaped desks were arranged in rows on the opposite side, facing the big desk. There were few couches on the far end of the room, surrounding the back space as a lounge area.
Venus was busy finishing her homework from today and writing them on to her notebook. She didn't want to pile up any work for home because she received amazing news that her parents were going to be back home in the later this evening.
She wanted to be assignment free. With what being the last senior year of school, several assignments to catch up on and her parents going to be out for a lot of reasons, she didn't have any spare time to be alone and engage with them.
As for her personal life, she didn't see Frank all day. To be honest, her mood had worsened when she did see him once when he was moping the hallway only to be ignored by him.
He had ignored her the rest of the evening at Drakes place. Only his last conversation played in her head.
What he said was not true! Absolutely not! All her life she had been on the good side of everything, a good daughter, a good friend, good student, a good classmate and finally a good president.
Even in her head, she could hear how often that term comes up. President.
She was getting sick of it. She had to arrange for so many activities, maintainability of socializing, being nice and sweet was becoming tedious. The compulsion to drop everything and quit was nearly tempting.
Then she would remember what her parents would say. How they'd look down upon her. The students who would belittle her and worse, the worse possible thing that made her not give in to that compulsion was seeing that satisfied smug look on Mariah and Hazel.
Today earlier, they had devised a new theme for prom. A theme Venus didn't like one bit. But she let it go because honestly, she didn't give a crap.
It was a piling headache on so much frivolities. Trivialities which will be no where be important once school's over. For some weird reason, Venus was waiting for the last day.
To see a new opening and have no more of these endless shenanigans and manipulations.
Her life here was hectic, mosey and it was making her feel bad about the things she did. However, having a janitor points those things out wasn't helping.
Her ego wouldn't allow her to take it.
She scribbled onto her notepad hurriedly, she wanted to be done with this and go back home.
The sun had already begun to set and the halls outside were empty. Kate had waited for her initially and then Venus felt bad for keeping her behind so she asked her to leave.
Kate at first resisted but then she went only to remind her to text her when she reached home.
"Cmon. Cmon. Hurry up." She mumbled to herself. Stupid essays!
A screech outside echoed in the hall and she looked up at the closed door. "Hello? Is anyone there?"
Then she stupidly slapped her forehead with her hand. All the horror movies started this way. She should know better.
This was all Kate's doing. Filling her head with all the supernatural shit.
When the door clicked open, she opened her mouth ready to scream 'murder' when her shoulders deflated on seeing Frank.
He stepped inside leaving the door open as he brought in his mop and a yellow wringer filled with soiled soapy water.
He didn't pay any attention to her and simply went on about his business.
