Prologue

25/05/1943

Carlotta’s feet anchored to the ground.

She couldn’t feel anything; anything except pain.  She stood carelessly in an open field for the first time in several years. Winona was gone.

Carlotta was Polish and her parents were murdered, shortly after, her sister threw her life away, killing several Nazi’s in the process. Earlier that day, her sister Winona bounded several grenades to her body, her motivation to avenge her parents. Carlotta was now alone, standing in a field, watching the building go up in flames. If only she was faster and stronger like Winona, she could have been there in time, Carlotta could have stopped her or gone down with her, anything would have been better than being alone.

Winona was a grenade. She committed suicide just so a handful of Nazi’s would be murdered, Carlotta would never be that brave.

What Carlotta didn’t know is that she had to be brave. Carlotta ran for days, her bones becoming more visible as each day went. Carlotta was dying; but she didn’t care, as she’d be with Winona. Days pasted and Carlotta grew more weak and longed to be with her family.

That was until one day when everything changed, that is where our story begins.
