3. I WISH UPON MY LUCKY STAR

THE TRICKLING OF WATER from the giant fall in front of him was a background noise to his raging thoughts as he sat down, blades of grass caressing his clothes.

Legs crossed in a lotus position and hands supporting his back as he leaned to look up at the sky, Hyousuke felt a sudden tranquility wash over him.

All of his efforts, all of those years spent learning and teaching himself, creating his own way of conducting his magic一 and it all paid off.

His parents avenged at last.

And his mind was lost in silence. He suddenly felt as if he couldn't breathe, air getting stuck inside his throat and lungs constricting themselves around his heart.

And he blinked and it was all gone.

His mind was going crazy, he told himself, hand threading through his fringe and eyes closing in exhaustion.

Eito wasn't a saint. He sinned, feeling nothing for his actions.

(He guessed it was a side effect of being a necromancer.)

His emotions were dying one by one.

First to dissappear was disgust, when he revived his first corpse. (He daren't use his parents' as the first tries.)

Then followed restraint, when he killed a child for throwing rocks at his mother's body.

And soon his fear left him also. How could he feel it, when corpses abided his every comand and people ran away from his path.

'... He didn't run...' His eyes glazed over in though. That yokai Lord did not fear him, though he doubted such a thing would even be possible. Inu dai don't feel fear一 they create it.

But still...

'How brazen of him!'

Hyousuke knew that against a daiyokai he could do little damage without preparations ahead of time.

(His powers just worked that way.)

But that did not pardon him from the liberties he took with his person.

And yet一

一a bright flush decorated his face, all the way up to his ears.

He pouted.

Hyousuke was mystified as to what reasons the yokai Lord would have to take an interest in his person. His powers? He doubted it was his good looks一 he was still human and his beauty could not be compared to the one of a demon.

Stormy blue eyes glanced up at the sky, darkened and illuminated by millions of stars, the crescent moon hidden behind smoggy clouds. Besides him, the flame of his lamp flickered with the change of the wind, threatening to snuff itself out.

Closing his eyes, the young master leaned back, falling through the grass blades, allowing them to tickle his face. A small, content smile spread itself on his lips as his hands reached up to the sky, seemingly gathering any and all stars that he could catch.

And he stood like that, hands clasped together above his chest and eyes closed, his lack of movement prompting fireflies to glide out of their hiding place, helping illuminate his serene face.

A spike of the wind scattered the small insects, and Hyousuke found himself gazing up in a pair of glowing amber eyes, so intense and curious.

"What did you wish for?"

The question made the necromancer pause, lips parting and eyes widening for a margin as he regarded the demon hovering above him, hair akin to liquid silver creating a curtain of privacy around them.

"I..." Any retort died on his tongue the moment those beautiful golden eyes trapped him, so similar to honey, yet so rich and deep, so easy to loose yourself in as you attempt to solve each and every fragment of emotion.

The yokai Lord tilted his head, hair swaying with the movement and the quirk of his lips signaled for the taiyokai's amusement.

"Come with me."

"Huh?"

Hyousuke could not help the dumb sound that escaped his lips, nor the widening of his eyes the sudden offer.

He repeated himself, this time more firmly, "Come with me."

"Where?"

Sesshomaru watched with thinly veiled fascination as the remnants of innocence belonging to this young man shone through his surprise. "To my fiefdom." The smile on his face was telling of naught, just an encouragement for him to accept. He could very easily steal him away and bring him into his court, covert him to the ways of the demons, but such non-consensual acts were beneath him.

He watched him process the words, cogs turning to find the reason a yokai daimyo would want to bring him to the golds of demon society, but all thoughts fell upon his prowess and suddenly he felt like an object to be owned.

Hyousuke's face darkened and eyes closed in resignation. Was there truly a reason to remain here, lost within this destroyed village, when he could make himself known and learn of things that very few humans had the privilege to?

Suddenly, his self-deprecating thoughts shattered under the pressure of his desire for knowledge and experience. Entering the court of a taiyokai will undoubtedly bring more trouble than it's worth, seeing as he was merely a human, but such risks, such likelihood of certain doom excited him for the prises that he could stumble upon.

A determined glint shone in his stormy blue eyes and, with his face set in self-assurance, he met the demon's gaze head on.

"Take me."

It mattered not if he left everything behind, in this forgotten village, for all that belonged to him would follow, because not even death could set him apart from his possessions.

Pridefully smirking down at the human laying on the ground, he extended a clawed hand and brought the young necromancer to his feet, quiding him through the forest, an air of accomplishment surrounding his youki, happy with his success in bringing this powerful creature to his side (it made Hyousuke smile).

All the while they walked, Eito lost himself in his musings. 'What did I wish for?' His sight fell from the broad back of the demon to the starry sky.

'I wished for adventure.'
