THE SURVIVAL GAMES

I never knew that raising a child could be a survival game that I would be bound to win. I am Sudhir, a 30 yr old male, a hardworking husband, a feeding dad and a supportive son and the family pillar. I am a daily wage construction labourer whose daily bread depends on the rising sun. My wife Camla, works as a housekeeper in several homes. I and Camla work our butts off to earn the two squares of a meal for our family and to save the amount for our daughter's future.

Sara, my cute little munchkin, the 8 yr old means the world to me and Camla.

Be it any weather, every dawn I would go sit along with thousands like me, waiting on the city-square for people to come and hire us for dehari(daily work). Our wage is undecided and the work I do is irregular yet a source of income I seek for the survival of my family.

Despite the fact that our earnings are not sufficient to support the education of my daughter, every night I sacrifice the fan to let her sleep peacefully on khaat(bed) while I lay on the warm ground, dreaming to educate my little princess so she could shine up high and fulfil all her needs. The next day, I set off to work, rub my knees from dawn to dusk to make the ends meet. Every dawn, I would go and sit along with thousands like me waiting on the city-square for the people to hire us for the dehari(daily work). Our earnings are uncertain yet we fight daily for the survival of our family, the games we can't afford to lose.

What do you think, will Sudhir succeed to fulfil his dream to raise her daughter the way he desires? Or will he fail with the acute shortage of monetary resources? Read on the next chapters to know more. Let me know what do you think?
