Humming to myself calms my worries, drifting me away from what I usually think about. Life isn't fair, not in anyway. Yes there might be times times where I think I'll be fine it's what I deserve but sometimes karma rules my life.

I slowly pack away, rolling up prices of paper. Starting from the left making my way to the right and I finished in about five minutes when I realised someone was watching me.

I straighten up.

' nearly done.....' Turning, I saw his built figure in the door way watching me, was he checking me out?

How long has he been standing there?

Typical boys, Honestly.

'I'm so sorry, i know it was stupid of me to forget to close the door' admits Derek smiling at his foolishness.

Oh so he can at least admit he's an idiot.

 I like that.

' It's ok, just stop being a wuss' I give him a look, hoping he can't see through me.

I check him out, seeing his left dimple when jealousy hits in. I've always wanted a dimple, I've even got so far that I poke a pencil in a place to make a dimple appear.

'So what's your name' Derek breaks the silence, way a go mate, I was enjoying checking you out.

'Summer, Summer Russell' I say, he probably hates my attitude.

'Hi Summer, I'm Derek Huderson'

'Yeah I know, all the girls drool at the sight of you like your some kind of god'

He gives me his signature smilewhich sends a thrilll up my body in a good way, while my heart does a few beats more.

'Yeah I've noticed that i'm the talk if the town'.

Dereks grandmother, Emma , has owned the famous resturant Bell for almost 5 years now, it's one of those expensive resturants where famous people go, trust me I know. I've painted some of them or actually most of them who had been there.

Emma has married at least, and divorced four times because men being men cheated on her and she's been left heart broken ever since her last one. Who knows Derek might be a player too and it's another reason why i won't end up in bed with James.

James is the player of the town, he has almost slept with every girl in the town, or at least gone a date with them and now he's onto me, not leaving me alone utill I end up in bed with him. And another problem, he's friends with Derek. Lovely.

' Can i ask you a personal question?' asks Derek searching my eyes for an answer, or more like checking me out again, eyes up here not down there!

I give him a smile in a humor way,' You can try'.

Is he going to ask me if i'm seeing someone?  I don't want to ruin this friendship, WAIT what friendship?

' Are you seeing anyone?' Dereks eys look pleading in a way, i'm not falling for that.

I shake my head, its true i'm not seeing anyone.

'Single pringle'. I love saying single pringle, it's almost like it slides off my tounge.

His eyes lit up with hope as i shook my head, his eyes sparkling.

Oh god, i know that look. i know where this is going, he's going to ask me out to a date.

Oh holy fishnuggets.

'So do you want to go on a date with me? Tonight?' derek asks, Boys are so predictable.

'Oh i cant ' i say, just leave it there derek.

'Oh yeah, a bit of a jump. How about Tuesday? Friday? choose whateverday you like.' He pushed his luck, looks like i'm going to hurt his ego.

I shake my head even more as he says it,' i just can't, i dont date, but thanks for the inivite'

'Right.' He taken aback, erek says,' Not at all?'

'No' should i make some kind excuse? Should I say that i have a baby to take care at home? or That i have an elderly relative who can't be lesft unettended? No, i need to stay strong.

His face falls, clearly looks like he wished he didn't start this conversation.

My eyes sparkle,'Oh Crap, are you offended?'

'Of course not.' He lies clearly, It's so easy to see right through him.

I give him a who-are-you-kidding look.

'Really?'

'Yes Really, I'm fine. I'll just need a few months for my ego to recover' He managed a rueful smile. Rolling my eyes I hide smile...
