book one: water | chapter one

HEY YALL SO GLAD TO BE BACK. unfortunately the pronouns for this book are she/her. my writing style is not perfected yet and writing a gender neutral book takes a lot of skill. sorry for my non binary babies but if i was to write a gender neutral book, i would want it to be better for y'all. if there is graphic scenes i will add a trigger warning before the paragraph just for a brief warning.  also this chapter is gonna be boring cause it's just everyone introducing themselves and not much action. but up chile anyway let's get on with the story.

Zuko's pov (backstory)

I threw (y/n) on my ship and sailed of to the south pole. it would take a few months to get there so i had enough time to find out why she wanted to kill me. as i dragged her into her cell she started talking, "please Zuko don't. i came here to help you. your destiny is not to find the avatar you don't have to restore your honor to be a good per"

"SHUT UP" Zuko cut her off. "i have to find the avatar"

"no you don't zuko. please join me" (y/n) tried to convince me but i wouldn't work. i threw a knife next to her head,

"don't lie to me (y/n) you're a traitor" as i said that i knocked her out. i looked through the pockets of all of her clothes making sure she wasn't armed. Uncle came down the stairs,

"Prince Zuko, why have you taken her as your prisoner. she is a friend" he said.

"how dare you call her a friend, she is a traitor!" flames flew out of my hand in anger.

"she is wise Zuko. listen to what she has to say" and with that he left. i tied her up to make sure she couldn't do anything sneaky. i incased her hands in stone and left to play pai sho with uncle.

Aangs pov:

i saw a fire navy ship heading for the southern water tribe. oh no this is all my fault. i sent up that flare and they found me. i gasped and floated down to appa "wait for me here!" appa growled in response. i started heading over and i saw the ship barge into the walls of the water tribe. i heard Sokka scream as the ship broke the walls. The wall collapsed into mounds of snow and i'm surprised he kept his footing. A guy with a weird ponytail started to torture the villagers with fire and i knew he was there for me. their panicked looks forced me to intervene. i knocked down the weird guy with my air bending and stood in-front of the villagers. obviously, everyone started fire bending at me as they saw i was the avatar. oh no Katara and Sokka know i'm the avatar now. that didn't matter i had to help. i bent the fire and it almost reached them. i saw the villagers panicked faces once again and had to let go. i spun my staff to the ground to show that i surrendered but was still confident, "if i go with you, will you leave these people alone" i said. the guy replied with a nod. next thing i know i was being boarded onto the ship. i took one last look at Katara and Sokka and gave them a reassuring look. i'm the avatar i can get out of this my thoughts were interrupted by the door slamming shut and me realizing i have to find a way out. i managed to get out of the guards grip and went to find my staff. i looked everywhere but couldn't find it. i finally looked in one last room and found it. i had to fight ponytail along the way but i got it and headed for the deck of the ship the guy close on my tail.

ow my head. cold. i'm cold. where am i. must be one of the poles. and then it came. a ringing in my ears so loud that i screamed. usually that meant that something bad was about to happen but i ignored it. i am too weak to fight right now. where am i. i can't feel anything except cold and pain. i tried to move but i seemed to be tied up. there wasn't a floor it seemed like i was just hanging. i forced myself to open my eyes, squinting as i tried to adjust. "well look who's awake" a husky voice said. i saw that i was upside down which explained why my head was pounding. i struggled in my restraints,
