Chapter 1:

I walked through the long corridor leading up to the school. A brick sign sat at the entrance of the campus with yellow tulips planted around it. A small water fountain sprayed from behind the sign.

More than my old school had I thought. I am glad I finally got away from that lousy piece of junk.

I was on my way to the door, when next thing I know I'm on my butt. Great. This outfit cost me 85 dollars.

"Watch it jerk," I proclaimed as I stood up brushing off my pink mini-skirt and straightening up my belt. I slowly looked up just long enough to look into his loveable green eyes, down his chest, and back up to the muscles in his fore-arm.

He reached out his hand. I guess this was his way of saying I'm sorry.

"Can you not speak, or is your ego the only thing broken?" I pushed past him and made my way through the propped open double doors. They were black and silver with golden hinges. Wow, do they not know gold doesn't match silver. I ignored the minor flaw and took out my schedule.

It was my first day at my new school and I felt dorky for having to look at my schedule. I took a quick glance and shoved it into my back pocket of my jeans. I knew I would be needing that a little later.

My first class was math. Algebra I to be exact. I walked up and down the hallway looking for some clue as to where I needed to be. After a while I heard a sweet, sexy voice whisper in my ear.

"Algebra I is in that classroom right over there," he said pointing across the hallway. I looked down and mumbled thanks under my breath. I must have passed that classroom at least 20 times. Ughh. I hated asking for help, but what I hated most was making it obvious I was lost. He must have heard me mumbling under my breath for the past half hour.

I walked off quickly not making eye contact. I walked into the silent, but slightly overcrowded room and choose a seat in the very back.

I pulled out my cell phone and read my latest message. It said from Hawaii. Hawaii was my all-time best friend in the world. Her real name was Allie, but I have always called her Hawaii because that is where I first met her. She is so much of a friend to me that we always call each other sisters when people ask. She lives in Sacramento, California.

I used to live in the house right beside her until my mom decided to move to New York because of her stupid job. Moving is stupid. This is the third time in 6 years. She got transferred to an office in New York, New York, where we live now. It's much bigger and busier than Sacramento, but what's the point enjoying it when my best friend is all the way across the country? Without your only sister. I looked down at the pink and blue screen. It read:

OMG Girl. New York! I still can't believe it ): But I'm gonna make the best of it. So . . . . . . guess what.

Wed. March 13 6:19 a.m.

From: Hawaii

I read her words over and over again. Gonna make the best of it. Gonna make the best of it. I had always loved Allie. No matter what the situation, good or bad, she had always found a way to be happy. That is why we clicked so well together.

I was the complete opposite. They were serious when they said opposites attract. I would mope around and complain until I got what I wanted, but some how this time was different. I was actually having a good time except for the loser who knocked me over, and spending half the morning wandering around like an idiot trying to find my stupid class.

I replied "What? And yea. Remember I'm gonna see you in a couple of months for break," to her text and looked up. I saw kids sitting on tables, boys spitting spit balls at each other, and two girls making out behind the teacher's desk.
