10: On the Move

Levi's POV

"Nice place you got pipsqueak."

"Get out of my office Kenny."

"Don't worry, I won't get anything dirty." He says as his boots find their way on my desk. Kenny slouches in my chair with his hat covering his face.

"Get. Off. My. Desk. NOW."

"Alright geez, you bastard. . ." He removes his feet off my desk but stays in the chair. I have to keep my anger under control due to Pearl also being in here as well. "So, Captain, where are we headed? You are always one to come up with the. . . decent plans?" His comment made me roll my eyes. I decided to NOT stab him multiple times with my sword.

"Right now, just away from Tortuga. As far away as possible. Obviously."

"No new destination yet?"

"No."

"Why not, Captain?"

"What is this? 20 questions?" I wandered over to the map posted on the wall and examine it. As much as it pains me to think, Kenny is right. We need a destination. . .

"Why don't we find Eren?" Kenny reacts to Pearl's question with a very exaggerated laugh. She looks over at him rather confused.

"You think that spineless son will help us recapture his father?? You've got to be joking!" Kenny continues to laugh.

"Well. . . We won't know until we try, right? And besides, if we don't do anything, Jaeger and Smith will start a war with the Mer King, the Government and potentially break the deal made with the Pirate Lords."

"YOU know about the Pirate Lords?" Kenny straightens up in my chair. "OH PLEASE. Give me a break Sand Dollar; no one had a direct connection with the Pirate Lords except for their first hands."

"How do you know all of this?" "I asked Pearl as I made my way over to the bed where she was sitting on and sat down beside her.

"My father knew a friend whose daughter became a Pirate Lord. I forgot what her name was. . ."

"LEVI!" Hanji rushes in, slamming the door against the wall of my office in the process.

"Do you want to break my ship Four Eyes?"

"Nevermind the door! We need you above deck!"

"And why is that?"

"Eren is asking permission to come aboard! Now can you hurry up?!" Hanji heads back above deck and Pearl is practically bouncing in her spot. This makes me sigh deeply.

Is she THIS excited to see Eren again? They only met once before. . .

"I better not find you overboard, got it?"

"Thank you Levi-san!" Pearl stands up and rushes to see Eren. And now that I get to have a good look, it seems like she has gotten used to walking around on her legs.

"How does that Sand Dollar even have legs?"

"I'm NOT the person who can answer that question, Kenny."

"Of course not. But, one does have to ask the question."

"I never saw it happen myself. One second she's her normal, mer self, and the next, a human with legs." I stand up and heads for the office door. "Anyway, don't break ANYTHING in my office."

"No promises, pipsqueak."

"And for fuck sakes, STOP calling me that." I walk up the small set of stairs and steps out on the deck to see the Maria next to my ship. Eren, Mikasa, and Armin are talking with Petra and the other crew members. Pearl is just in the back of the crowd, looking a bit nervous. I don't blame her though; Eren may not recognize her at all in her current state.

"Captain Levi!" Eren's voice makes me lock eyes with his and I smile brightly like he hasn't seen me in years. "I'm glad to have found you and the Michellé still on the seas."

"They can't get rid of me that easily. Are you caught up with the current situation?"

"I am. Historia is back on the Maria. She wanted to speak with you in person. Ymir is there as well."

"Then, I'll go talk to them now. Petra, keep the ship on the same course as the Maria."

"Yes, Captain!" Petra rushes to the helm. Hanji shows Eren and Mikasa to the dining area while Armin shows me onto the Maria. Light footsteps trail behind me, making me aware that Pearl is trailing along behind me. Maybe, Pearl thinks one of them is the person she can't seem to remember. I'm just hoping this conversation will shed some needed light on this whole ordeal.

Or, it may not.
