"Daddy don't go, just come home with us," My 4 year old daughter Evalynn says clinging to her father's,Senior Master Sergeant Mason Matthews, neck not letting go when he has to go for his third deployment.
"Baby listen to daddy, no matter what happens I will come home. I will be safe, all these men and woen with me are going ot look after me and i will look after them. I promise you that everybody on this deployment will come home. I will hold you again baby I promise. Now go to mommy and keep an eye on your brother and sister for me okay?" My husband said handing me my sobbing daughter.
"Kyle you're going to look after your sisters and mommy for me right?"
"Yes, daddy."
"Okay, i have to go know but girls I love you, Kyle be strong for mommy."
I have tears rolling down my face now, as my husband looks at me wiping the tears from my cheeks. I pull my husband in my arms hugging him close to my body wishing I could take him home with us. Suddenly he grabs my face kissing me hard, but still as passionate as our wedding day.
Pulling away whispering together, "I love you". Laughing like we did so many times.
My children cling to may legs and my husband gives us all one last kiss before getting on the bus taking them to the airport. I grab my kids hands and slowly but surely walked to the car with tears in our eyes.
Getting in the car, the kids start balling, but its time for me to be the parent. "okay babies let's go home and we can watch daddys going away video and have some lunch? how does that sound?" all the response I got was nodding and sniffling.
This is going to be a long deployment. But he'll come home soon.....
.......I hope.......
