Memories

You know what's weird?

Knowing a dead person
Like knowing their name and their face
And you still remember the sound of their voice but you are aware that you will never hear it again
And you still remember the last time you talked with them
But you are aware that it becomes a distant memory
And you still remember their little characteristics like their hand gestures or their taste of music or their laugh or just something trivial
And after a long time you think you know this person

But you don't know their favourite artist
You don't know their favourite colour
You don't even know their birthday
And you're asking yourself
"Did I actually know them?"

But the only thing you surely know is you can never speak with them again

And as life goes on you forget that sometimes
But when that one special memory comes back and it hits you really hard
That you just have to cry for a second

So knowing a dead person is weird

That feeling is really weird
