Yellow Flicker Beat ~ Lord

I could feel the air go thick with tension instantly, although only I was aware of it. My heart was pounding in my chest as my hands grew clammy, Finn's grip now remaining on my shoulder as if to keep me in place. To keep me from running. But every bone in my body was telling me that I needed to get out of there. Now. Subtly I slipped out of his grip, avoiding his gaze which was solely fixed on me as I made my way towards the door.

"Erm- Excuse me, I'm- I'm just going to go the bathroom quickly." I muttered, my voice too weak with fear as I already began to walk down the corridor towards the staircase. I had no idea what to do. Swiftly I began to make my way up the stairs, the sound of footsteps following closely behind me.

A lump grew in my throat as I reached the top of the stairs my hand instinctively reaching for my wand in my back pocket in an act of defence.

"Expelliarmus!" Instantly my wand flew from my hand as I turned to see Finn, his eyes dark as he aimed his wand at me without a flicker of emotion on his stoic face. My breath hitched in my throat as a ball of green light soared from his wand towards me causing me to fall to the floor out of the way while he continued his assault. Spells flew all around as the sound of glass smashing and furniture being broken filled my ears as I scrambled to my feet, running across the landing towards my room. Finn was close on my heels as I tried to shut the door and barricade it with a chair wedged under the handle, but it was to no avail as a spell burst through it, sending splitters of wood in my direction as my body slammed on to the floor due to the force.

I was met with him glowering down at me as I pushed myself away from him desperately as a sinister grin appeared on his face, his jaw tensing whilst he took in my terrified expression.

"Remember me?" He sneered, slowly sauntering towards me before his hand reached for the sleeve of his jacket. Gradually, he lifted it revealing the pale skin of his forearm which was now tainted by a mark all too familiar to me. The Dark Mark. All at once, things began to fall into place in my mind, he was one of the many faces that had been sat at the table that haunting night.

My breath caught in my throat from the realisation as my eyes stared at the black, skull that snaked up his forearm. The sight of it alone sending a deadly chill up my spine as questions spiralled in my mind. How? Arabella's brother? Were her family like him too? I shook the thoughts from my mind knowing I had more important things to do right now. The main one being trying to escape without Arabella or her parents being hurt.

I let out a deep breath, my powers instinctively taking over as a fire slowly began to grow within me, the warmth and force of it gradually radiating throughout my body as a deep chuckle escaped from Finn's lips. His hand met my throat and pulled me forcefully to my feet, the pressure around my neck causing me to gasp as he slammed me against the wall, smashing the framed picture which was behind my head.

"Finn? Rose? What-?" Evelyn shouted as she peered through the smashed-in door, Tobias appearing next to her, both of their faces overcome with confusion and fear much like mine.

Finn scoffed under his breath before he turned his head, his eyes meeting his parents' coldly. Their eyes instantly fell on his tight grip on my throat and the mark that now adorned their son's forearm. Evelyn clasped a hand to her mouth as she lurched forward, falling to her knees whilst muffled sobs escaped her lungs.

"Finn... Please." She whispered her eyes glazed over with tears as her son removed his grasp from my neck allowing me to suck in deep breaths of air. I knew what I needed to do. I needed to save them, for there was no doubt in my mind that Finn would kill them if they tried to stop him.

"It's me he wants isn't it?" I shouted, Finn's head turning in my direction immediately as everyone's attention fell on me, my eyes meeting Evelyn's as she began to shake her head but I just sent her a small smile, my eyes now stinging with tears too at the thought of leaving them. At the thought of leaving Arabella. But the thought of leaving them now and saving them was more bearable than the thought of them being dead. So, I sucked in my last deep breath, looking to the window which me and Arabella had watched the rain out of only the night before.

"Then come and get me," I spoke viscously as I ran towards the window and leapt, bracing myself as my body slammed into the window pane, shards of glass piercing my skin as my body fell slowly before the familiar feeling of my tawny wings and their feathers brushed against my skin, the power of them sending my body soaring up into the sky away from the London Townhouse.

My heart was hammering in my chest as I looked back to see a mass of black, wispy smoke following closely behind me. The weather now turning quickly as the blue sky was engulfed with looming dark clouds that rumbled with thunder. He was already on my tail as we flew over London's skyline, the feeling of his hand grasping for my leg causing me to spiral up into the sky in an attempt to escape him. The thick clouds limiting my vision along with the viscous rain that hammered down on to my skin as my wings carried me skilfully through the clouds. But suddenly a spell flew at me, hitting my wing, tearing away flesh and feathers which caused pain to seer through my body as I began to plummet towards the river Thames.

I could hear my blood rushing in my ears as my body began to fall faster and faster, my wing now limp whilst the other flapped desperately in an attempt to keep me in the sky in the cover of the clouds. But there was no use in fighting. Not anymore as my body and wings gave out. Slowly, I closed my eyes as my body plunged into the water of the river, a trail of blood tinting the colour of the water red as I began to sink deeper and deeper. My vision going blurry as consciousness began to escape me along with my freedom. I could feel my heart rate slowing as my lungs became tight desperate for oxygen. The image of Finn's black silhouette diving into the water being the last thing to fill my mind before I was sucked into an abyss of darkness...
