Lucas's POV
It was late, like about 12:53 pm. Usually I'd be sleeping but I was hanging out with Max while she sat eating oreos and chocolate syrup. Not exactly healthy, but she didn't seem to worry about it.
"Don't you think that might make you sick? You just ate ice cream" I asked, "No? Why would it be bad? The only time you get sick is if you have diabetes" she laughed softly, still stuffing sweets in her mouth. I continued to play my game and take a bite out of the sandwich I made.
It was a few hours later, me and max were jumping on my trampoline. At night. In the dark. Not so safe to also be unsupervised but I guess we didn't care about it. I saw Max about to slow down her jumping and eventually came out of the trampoline. "Are you okay?" I asked while she's trying to catch her breath. "Yeah I'm fine....i just need to lay down" she said while slowly walking back to the house. I don't think she's actually okay though. She didn't look sad but she definitely didn't look okay. I followed her into the house and to the couch. "Max, are you sick?" I said, putting my head on her forehead. "I don't know...maybe" she said, sinking into the couch,
"I guess I do have a bit of a cold"
"Was it because of the cookies you ate?"
"Probably, I guess. I never felt like this after I eat. That's probably why I didnt finish it"
I sat in silence for a couple of seconds before I went in my fridge to see if there's medicine in there. "I don't think I need medicine, Lucas, I'm not gonna die" she joked, grabbing a pillow and putting it under her head to lay down. I rolled my eyes and walked to the bathroom to see if we had anything. "Do you have a headache? Do you need to throw up? Are you tired?" I asked a lot of questions. Probably explained why Max just started laughing out of nowhere.
"Dude, I'm fine. Maybe my stomach hurts a bit, It's okay" she said, still laughing. "But I guess....... I could use a quick temperature" she said, grabbing the remote and turning on a different channel.
I went into the bathroom cabinet and pulled out a temperature stick and gave it to her. She later pulled it out and attempted to read it.
"Uhh... yeah I can't read this" she said, giving it to me.
I brought it close to my eyes and it read 106 degrees
"you have a fever of 106" I said quietly. "Is it that bad?" She asked, playing with her hair.
"Um, yeah I think. I'll go get you some medicine" I said, getting a bottle of purple medicine out of the fridge.
