~Jefferson and Madison modern university au~

Word count: 2776

~Thomas' POV~

I walked around campus and couldn't help but replay when James snapped at me over and over and over again. I know he didn't mean to... but it still hurt. It will always hurt. I mean we've never gotten into a fight or gotten angry at each other.

I felt tears brim my eyes and quickly blinked them away. I shouldn't be crying over this. It's one mishap. He didn't mean it. If he didn't mean it then why did it hurt so damn much?

I sighed and stuffed my hands in my pockets and noticed a few feet away from me was Hamilton. I rolled my eyes. Of course he had to be close to where I was walking. I saw him look over at me from the girl he was talking to. I think her name is Eliza? Yeah. Eliza. She was one of the Schuyler sisters. "Hey Jefferson!" I heard Hamilton call out towards me which snapped me out of my thoughts.

I grumbled slightly and walked over to him reluctantly. "What Hamilton?!" I said clearly sounding annoyed. He put his hands up slightly in defense.

"Hey. No need to be so uptight. I just wanted to introduce you to my girlfriend." He explained. I glanced over at Eliza who smiled at me sweetly. It was the kind of smile that could even make a sociopath smile. I truly couldn't help but smile a little at her.

"I believe we have met already haven't we miss Eliza?~" I said obviously putting on a fake flirty tone just to peeve Hamilton. Eliza giggled a little since she knew I was joking around and nodded.

"I do believe we have dear Thomas." Eliza said winking a little at Hamilton so he would know it was all just jokes. Hamilton rolled his eyes at me and I couldn't help but smirk a little.

"Where's Madison? I normally don't see you without him." Hamilton asked curiosity clear in his voice. I shrugged.

"I suspect he's in his dorm room. But I'm not sure haven't seen him since our break." I explained actually getting curious where James was... Despite that I hung out with Eliza and Hamilton for a bit. Eliza and I would make jokes over things which would then sometimes turn into Hamilton and I arguing a little. This went on for a few hours.

"I should probably check on Jemmy and make sure he's doing okay." I said before waving and walking off from the two of them.

I walked towards the dormitory. It took a little bit to get there but when I got inside I noticed that the front desk person wasn't there but shrugged it off as it was probably their break. I walked into the elevator and decided to check on James before putting my stuff in my room. I pressed the button of the floor James' room was on. I walked over to his room and knocked on the door. This had caused the door to open a little. "That's strange. He always closes his door..." I said before realizing something was obviously wrong.

I rushed into the room and checked everywhere. I got to his desk and froze when I found a paper folded up with my name on the front. I picked it up my hands shaking. As I read through it everything clicked in my mind. I immediately dropped the note and ran towards the bathroom door knowing James was in there somehow. I knocked on the door "James! Please open the door!" I called through the door just hoping he was still breathing. My eyes were becoming blurry from hot tears running down my face.
