(Madison's POV)
I walked back into my door and immediately ran upstairs to grab my camera and my pack of cigarettes and headed out to the fire escape located on the back of the building. There was a large balcony that connected with Harry's, with stairs leading down at the far right. I sat down in the chair and admired my backyard view of London. The twinkling lights, and the subtle hints of stars everywhere, it felt like home. I pulled out a cigarette and lit it, taking a long slow drag, breathing in and exhaling. Lifting my camera to my eye, I took a panoramic picture of the view. I took small snapshots of the buildings, and the little bit of the bridge that was visible.
I lifted the cigarette back up to my mouth,
"Erm, ahem." I heard a voice say. I nearly dropped the cigarette on my leg.
Whipping my head around, I saw Zayn standing in the doorway of Harry's balcony looking over at me.
"Jesus Christ, Zayn. You scared the shit out of me man." I said, flicking the ashes off the end of the cigarette.
He laughed, "Sorry Madison, didn't mean to. What are you doing out here?"
I lifted up my cigarette and my camera, he nodded.
"Its a great night for that, ya know." he said, coming over and sitting by me. I handed him my lighter and he allowed me to light his for him. I smiled and continued taking pictures of the scenic view.
"Can I see that?" he asked, looking at my camera.
"Yeah sure, just don't drop it." I said, handing it to him.
He out the neck strap on, and set his cigarette in the ashtray. Putting the camera up to his eye, he began taking pictures. Trees, owls, himself.
I lifted my cigarette up to my mouth once again, and I heard he click of the camera.
I looked over at him to see the camera pointed in my direction.
"Can I help you?" I asked.
"No, you just looked pretty cool there for a second." he turned the camera towards me, and showed me the picture he had just taken. Black and white, the smoke leaving the end of my cigarette and the hot embers looked amazing.
"Wow Zayn, you're a professional at this." I said, admiring the picture.
He smiled and thanked me.
"You know, I have a small photography room set up in my house, if you and the guys would want to come see it tomorrow..." I said as I put out my cigarette.
"That would be so cool! What time should we come over? We're free all day!" he said with a huge smile.
"How about 1:00?"
"That's perfect, we'll be there." Zayn put out his cigarette and put his pack in his pocket. He stood up and put his hand on my hand. "Ill see you tomorrow." he said, a slight smile forming on the corner of his lips.
"Tomorrow." I repeated, standing up and making my way back to my apartment, closing the door slowly behind me.
As I made my way to my bedroom, I glanced through the pictures. Most of them were scenic, but a few were me. Secret quick pictures Zayn had taken of me when I wasn't looking, or when I was playing with my lighter. The way the fire caught my eyes, and cascaded shadows across my eyes and cheeks was better than anything I could have ever done. I plugged my camera into my laptop and uploaded a few of the pictures to a zip drive, all but the one that Zayn had taken of me with the lighter. I set that as my twitter picture.
"@MaddiePaige26: New profile picture courtesy of my new neighbor."
I didn't think it was safe to tag him in it. I don't want hoards of girls surrounding my apartment buildings, and getting death threats every other tweet.
I rolled over in my bed and clicked off the light.
Just before I closed my eyes, I could've sworn I heard a small knocking from the other side of the wall.
