One Shot

Jenna’s POV:

I was sitting in a chair in my living room along with my three best friends in the whole of Ireland: Niall, Emmy, and Kelsey.  Niall and I have known eachother since we were just little snappers, I think we first met on my first birthday when he was about two.  Our parents were friends long before we were born. I was born in Bath over in England but my family moved here to Mullingar when I was 6.  My mum wanted to live closer to her friends and I am really happy she did.  Emmy was born across the pond the United States of America.  She moved when we were about 9 years old. Kelsey is all the way from Australia though, and she moved soon after Emmy came here.  I think it is a little funny how Niall is the only one actually from Ireland in our group of friends, but somehow it worked out and we are all really close.  Niall and I are together almost everyday, we are like brother and sister and living next to each other makes it easy.  Emmy and Kelsey come over a lot too, so we are always together.  

“You guys should really try out with me!” Niall shouted with excitement.  He wants Emmy, Kelsey and I to try out for X-Factor with him.  Us girls are in a group and we aren't half bad, Niall thinks we could make it pretty far along if we tried out.  He is trying out too, his voice is really nice and I think he could be famous one day if he makes it through the auditions.  

“Come on guys, I don’t want to do it alone, I need my pals there.” he continued.  I look over to Kelsey and then to Emmy, trying to see if they want to do it or not.  I look over to Niall, he is too cute to say no to.

“Alright, fine, we will do it with you.” I say.  He jumps up and hugs each of us happily.

“Yay!” he exclaims. “I can’t wait for us to do this!” I look over to Kelsey and Emmy, they seem excited too.  I’m a little nervous, singing in front of that many people gives me jitters, I hope I don’t mess things up for everyone.  I look over to the clock, it’s getting really late and there is school tomorrow.  

“Alright guys, its getting late so scram.” I say to everyone and they get up to leave.  Niall stays behind and walks over to me.  

“Thanks for doing this Jenna, it really means the world, I am so happy you’ll be there with me.” He says.

“Yeah, if we make it through, I am kinda nervous.” I say truthfully.

“We can all practice together and make sure we are well prepared.” he suggests.  I give him a smile to show that it’s a good plan, and he leaves toward home waving good-bye.  

I walk to my room and close the door behind me, sliding to the ground to think.  Will we make it? What if Niall makes it and we don’t or the other way around? That would be horrible, but at least someone would get through.  I guess we just have one shot so we shouldn’t mess it up.

The next day at school Niall came up to me after lunch.  

“Hey Jenna, we should all ditch and go practice our singing.” he says to me.

“What? Since when do you skip school?” I say angrily. “We can’t just leave, we will make time later in the day.  What happened to us becoming engineers together!”

“Alright fine, how about at mine after school? Will you tell Kels and Emmy?” He suggests.  I look at him wearily.

“Yeah, sure I will tell them, but you better not skip out, besides if singing doesn’t work out you will need good marks to get into university.”  He nods and walks away.  I watch him to make sure he is going in the right direction and not towards the exit to the school.  I cannot believe he wanted to skip out, but I guess he is really excited for the auditions.  

When school is over we all go over to Niall’s house to practice our singing. Half the time we just laughed and joked around but we actually did some practicing too. It is harder for Emmy, Kelsey and I because we have to all sing at the same pitch or harmonize, but we manage to do it and it sounds better than ever before, Niall was giving us pointers the whole time.  He really helped out alot.  I think we are really getting better and we will be amazing by the time auditions come up!

“Thanks Niall!” Kelsey says as she leaves for her house.  

“Yeah, thanks!” Emmy says.  She walks out with Kelsey and they head home.  

“Yeah Niall you were really helpful today, you really know what to do to help us sound better.” I say to him.  He smiles.

“Thanks, I am glad I can help out.  Hopefully now you all will feel more confident for the auditions and we will go on the show together!” He says excitedly.  I stick around for a bit and we practice a little more before I go home.  I cannot wait for our auditions to come around! I really hope we all make it.
