So this was originally published in Black Hole Imagination, but I decided to move it to here. Two reasons: 1) it doesn't have a BTS character, 2) it will have it own book that will be an xReader with BTS characters.

Summary: Eccedentesiast - someone who fakes a smile

Word Count: 1519

Children are either jumping on any accessible surface with unmatched laughter or throwing anything near them or themselves while releasing uncontrollable screams. There is no in between. You knew if they were brimming with happiness or erupting in despair. Children do not understand what a fake smile is. Their innocence cannot comprehend why someone would pretend everything is okay. Why wouldn't they let the entire world see their anger and sadness? Only when the people near you know, can they make the suffering disappear.

But you think that is the main reason for children never faking a smile - innocence. They are naive to the double-edged sword of expressing oneself. If you cry, you are weak. But, everyone loves vulnerability. If you stay quiet, you are stuck-up. But, don't you dare try to invalidate others with your own voice. If you don't smile, you're begging for attention. But, someone as pretty as you should always smile.

So you don't cry. At least not where others can see. You try to speak when appropriate, but never more than is acceptable. And you smile, even when you don't feel like smiling. You don't want to draw attention to yourself.

Besides, what could you possibly be upset about? You're life was perfect. It was a picturesque fairytale. You were an adored princess marrying her prince charming.

Literally.

The marriage date was set for two weeks time, the day before your childhood best friend's eighteenth birthday. The day of his birthday was his coronation day. The entire week would be one of festivities, a celebration for the new royal couple and the anointment of the new king and queen.

You had known this was coming for an extensive amount of time. You were aware of it since your sixteenth birthday, actually. At the beginning, it was the best birthday present you could've received. You had loved him throughout your childhood. And, after you developed into a young woman, you began to fall in love with him. He was everything one could ask for in a husband.

Wealthy.

The highest social status possible.

Strong.

Handsome.

Funny.

Charismatic.

Intelligent.

Kind.

Of course you had zero complaints with your chosen husband to-be.

Prince Magnus

Three years later, you had changed your mind. But it was too late now. Everyone assumed you and Magnus were in love. The people even called you two destinatum est una, meaning "meant to be together."

Your father's were best friends, as well as king's of two neighboring kingdoms. Naturally, the two kingdoms were close allies and, consequently, you often visited Magnus's palace and vice versa. Sadly, your father had died in battle a year before your sixteenth birthday. It was customary for women in your culture to announce their engagement when they turn sixteen. Thus, your older brother (now king) was the one to sign off on your engagement to Magnus. You had been permanently living at Magnus's palace ever since he had turned sixteen.

At first it was perfect. You had always hated being so far away from him when you were younger. Once you moved, you check up on him during dinner and breakfast table talk or walk with him around the Royal Gardens. You got impossibly closer in that time of close proximity.
