Me and my friend were drawing a blank on what we should do for this chapter, so she suggested that I go to a prompt generator, and the header image is my result. I'm not doing all of the characters in this either, bcs I think that would be easier. This chapter is gonna be interesting. (It's an au, btw.) And the words in books don't count, as those aren't parts of the story. Now onward!! To the story!!
Enoch pushed through the undergrowth, his best friend, Victor, trailing behind. The two of them were wary of every sound, every movement, every little detail, purely out of the paranoia of running into an enemy.
This forest was one of the worst ones they had to travel through, mostly because of the many bear traps set out by the Daydreamers to catch the Nightmares. To the Daydreamers, Nightmares were nothing more than pests, or stones in their way.
The Nightmares, however, always looked up to the Daydreamers, even attempting to be like them in many ways. But Enoch and Victor we're smarter than that. They didn't want to look up to someone who despised them. For this, their small community had exiled them.
But it wasn't a surprise to be exiled from the exiles.
Enoch shook the memory from his mind, angry that he had remembered. Victor nudged him, a concerned look on his face. He realized he had stopped and kept walking, this time twice as fast.
Victor ran up beside him, frowning. "Be careful!! Don't want to run into any bear traps!!" He said, raising his eyebrows. Enoch rolled his eyes, but was more aware, as he wanted to keep his leg.
The two of them kept walking, right up until they came to a small circle of fruit trees. Victor quickly scaled one of them, hanging upside down from one of the branches. Enoch scowled at his energy.
"Who are you?"
Enoch spun around, almost jumping ten feet in the air. A boy stood just behind him, a terrified expression on his face.
Just at first glance, Enoch knew the boy was a Daydreamer. He wore light colored clothing, and his hair and skin was pale, as Nightmares only wore dark clothes and had darker skin and hair.
"I'm—!" "We're exiles." Enoch started to speak, but Victor interrupted him. "This is delicious!!" Victor waved an apple in his fist.
Enoch silently cursed Victor.
"You're exiles?" The other boy asked, confused. Enoch nodded, struggling to refrain from almost strangling Victor. The other boy frowned. "Prove it. Show me your marks." He was talking about the marks proving you were exiled, and they were normally pure black slits on both your wrists, and were permanent.
Enoch begrudgingly showed him, and with the proof, the boy's face turned neutral. "Fine. I believe you. But I never caught your name." The boy said flatly.
"He never threw it!!" Victor chimed in, still joyous. Enoch turned and shot him a glare.
"I'm Enoch."
This was shit, I'm sorry. Oh!! And btw, pip_head_luther , you have to follow the same rules I did lol. I'm sorry this update wasn't much. Oh and the word count is 540, but 140 of that is just Author's Notes.
