"We're going today, right? We're going today?" Felix flopped down on his bed, mumbling into his phone. He couldn't believe it. They were going today.
He waited for his best internet friend—best friend in general, actually—to answer the rhetorical question, as he knew Seungmin always would.
And Seungmin did. His voice had the robotic twinge it always had, but it was real. It was there. Short of a recording studio, nothing could really portray to Felix how truly amazing Seungmin's voice was.
"Yes, Lixie, today. But it's midnight, now, for me. You're leaving in four more hours; I'm leaving in eight. Then we're gonna—"
"Meet in person and audition together."
Felix smiled softly, forgetting that Seungmin couldn't see. It was fine, though, because Seungmin whispered, "I'm beaming like the hugest idiot on this whole planet." Felix could image it.
The two had been internet friends since they were thirteen, bonding over a small, rap group fan fiction that Seungmin had published. Felix's comments had just been so hilarious and witty; Seungmin couldn't help but follow the boy back. Even so, it took a while for them to be anything but mutuals.
Eventually, though, the ball began rolling, and there was no denying the fantastic chemistry the two near-strangers had. They soon found themselves always wanting to go back to their chat together, always wanting to talk and spend time with one another. After a few months, they sent each other baby photos of themselves. It almost became a game to guess what the other would look like.
When they'd voice called for the first time, it'd been a dream. An actual, literal dream.
Felix clearly remembered complimenting Seungmin one morning, telling the younger boy what a lovely voice he had, only for it to turn out to be his imagination. But it worked out, in the end, and they began to voice chat more and more frequently. Sometimes with video, now that four years had passed and the boys were almost eighteen.
"Yeah, Sunshine. We're gonna audition together, and meet each other, and I'm going to hug you to death." Sweet words continued spilling out of Seungmin's mouth as Felix blushed. They were virtually 'married,' as some people liked to be, but he'd never actually admitted his true feelings for Seungmin. It'd been almost five years since he'd met the boy.
The most important five years of his life.
Felix grinned up at his ceiling. "Not unless I hug you to death, first."
