"Grace come on, we need to get to Platform 9/3/4 on time!" Tom banged on my bedroom door in the disgusting, depressing orphanage we live at. I have never once remembered a day when Tom and I never lived here, I never once remembered a day with my mother, or my father. As Tom and I both heard, our father left our mother while she was pregnant with Tom and I. Soon after she gave birth, she dropped us off at the front door of this dirty little orphanage with bratty children."Wait!" I snarled. I finished packing my trunk and opened the door, I took one last look at the room and left with Tom.
"What took you so long? I've been waiting for an hour!" Tom said.
"Tom, you must have patience, your not going to get anywhere in life without patience." I simply said. Sometimes I act like Tom's mother instead of his sister, he can just be, so immature!
"That's not the point Grace, seriously why do girls take so long to get ready?" He asked.
"Because unlike other people, like you, I actually try and look presentable." I said. Tom rolled his eyes.
"Let's go, the cars are waiting to take us." Without another word, we left the orphanage in headed towards the train station.
At the train station
The driver dropped us off inside the train station. I looked around, people were everywhere, some waiting for their train, others rushing not to miss their train. I looked at Tom, he looked absolutely clueless.
"The letter doesn't say where Platform 9/3/4 is." Tom said, looking at the crumpled piece of parchment in his hand.
"Oh give me it!" I snapped and grabbed the parchment out of Tom's hand, I quickly skimmed through the page. Tom was right, the letter said absolutely nothing about where you can locate this Platform 9/3/4. I looked at Tom, he looked back at me.
"We have to ask someone then." I said, trying to stay calm. Tom just simply nodded.
We walk around until we saw this family running into a wall and disappearing. Tom looks at me bewildered. "Did you just see that? Where did they go?" Tom asked in shock, god he can just be so clueless.
"Tom it's obvious, it's magic! Muggles don't know that magic exists so the platform is hidden! To get to the Platform, witches and wizards created this secret barrier for students of Hogwarts to go through! It all makes sense!" I said.
"Well then, let's go through if your so smart and all!" Tom snapped, I just rolled my eyes, how am I related to this prat? We both looked around to make sure no muggles were paying attention to us, then we both ran through the wall. The minute I walked through I saw a beautiful red train with gold words that said 'Hogwarts Express'. There were people all over saying goodbye to their children as they entered the train. Some were even crying! Pathetic, I thought, I don't even remember the last time I've cried. Crying just makes me weak.
"Let's head on the train." I was snapped out of my thoughts when Tom tapped me on the shoulder. I only nodded and followed him on the train.
"Let's get an empty compartment, I already can't stand any of these people." Tom said, I nodded my head in agreement and followed him towards the very back of the humongous train. We settled ourselves in an empty compartment. Knowing that we will be here for a long time, I took out a book and started reading. Tom started writing something in this black book, I wanted to know what, but it wasn't my business so I just continued reading.
About fifteen minutes in the train ride, I heard the compartment door slide open, it revealed two children that were definitely the same age as Tom and I. I looked up from my book, Tom looked up from his writing. I could tell Tom was annoyed that he was interrupted, one thing I learned about Tom is that when he's writing, never interrupt him unless you want to feel pain. At the compartment door there was a girl with long blonde hair, she was really short and pretty. Very pretty. Next to her, showed a very tall lanky boy, he had black hair that was getting long, I could tell.
