Before we get into the story, I wanted to share with you what you're about to read. This is a new project for me. After 12 books published (The Yellow Hoods series, King's Horse, The Wizard Killer series, Man of Cloud, 5 Critical Things for Successful Book Signings), life changed for me. Since then, I've written but not published about 5 or 6 novels, including a final installment of the Wizard Killer. None of them felt right. When life changes, it alter's your inner voice and how attached to things you are. It also knocked my confidence and had me unable to completely finish projects. This only fed my anxiety.
About two months ago (during COVID lockdown), I decided I would write what aligned with my mood. I would write what I could enjoy, without putting any obligations on my own shoulders. Initially it was nicknamed "Back-Alley Mage", but as the story started to take shape it became The Legacy of the Unborn Dragon. As it stands right now, I'm nearly half-way through writing it and I feel it is coming together.
The scenes and chapters I post here have not been professionally edited, so let me know if you find some issues or inconsistencies. I'm also going to be doing some revisions the further I go, so earlier scenes may get changed to align better with where the story and series are going.
When the story is published (fingers crossed I can get there and get through my mental block), I'll replace what's posted with a few professionally edited sample chapters.
And finally, as I feel scenes are cleaned up enough to share, I'll post them.
