Alex's P.O.V
Alarms bleared, lights flickered, and the computers kept flashing up error signs. A high pitched automated female voice was repeating the evacuation procedures, my vision blurred as I looked out the window watching the sky run past the window. Ten minutes previous to this my team and myself where sat around the ship finishing up a routine sweep of the planet. We were heading back to the scout ship when our scanners detected an unusual amount of activity; we decided to check it out after confirming it with our team leader. My pilot then set the co-ordinates and we cruised silently through the sky; watching the sun set followed by the three rising moon each sitting in its right full place. That's when the unimaginable happened, a flash of bright blue lit up the view in front of us and before we could react it hit us. Knocking out our left engine and killing the electricity. We had no way of sending for help, no way of gaining control. That's when the ship began to nose dive towards the ground, each member of the team ran around trying to steady themselves so that they could but on parachutes. I reached out for our youngest member as he stood frozen still 'Ryan' I shouted repeatedly before he placed his scared grey eyes on me. "Here, put this on" I handed him a green parachute and put the cord in his hand.
I then made my way over to the door, I tugged on the handle but it wouldn't budge horror coursed through my veins as I realised the door was stuck shut. "Kat the door!" she looked at me startled then rushed over to the computer to try and kill the security systems but each try came to no avail. Realising the inevitable I told my team to huddle together, we stood in a circle looking at one another, the ship took another sharp dive causing us all to fall; sliding down the ship until we couldn't go any further. "Guys, if this is the last time we talk, I want you to know that I couldn't be prouder. You have shown great courage and bravery, every mission you've conquered with-out fail. I couldn't be happier to call you guys my family..." my voice began to break so I stopped talking; I had to be strong for them. As I looked up I saw our pilot hauling himself up, reaching for the controls of the ship, when he got a strong hold he used his weight to pull back on the pitch making the ship level out a bit. He looked back at me with a gentle smile and a wink. I knew his plan, "Men put your helmets on and head towards the back of the ship" All of them followed my command and we all silently crawled to the rear of the ship. I grabbed a hold of one of the seats and as I did I was able to look out the window. My eyes widened as I noticed how close the ground was "Hold on tight, and whatever you do stay stro...!" my words were cut off as we hit the ground and I was knocked into unconsciousness.
I woke to an intense heat beating against my face; a heavy feeling erupted from my chest as I tried to breathe. I strained my eyes to open but felt tears begin to streak down my cheeks at the effort. My body felt weak, my mind raced as I processed what had happened. The loud moaning sound of the ships parts as they began to settle fought against the crackle of the large blaze that trapped me. I soon started to realise that I was encased below a large piece of metal its enormity baring down on me, squishing whatever remaining life I had out. My breath would hitch in my throat every time I tried to move, the shear weight of the panel pushing me further into the ground. I craned my neck out to see if I could see anyone else, my eyes frantically searching the chaos surrounding the small space in which we crashed. I would catch a glimpse of what seemed like a figure to only find masses of metal casting shadows, when to my relief my intercom crackled to life. "Capta... Captain...enix? Do yo... read me?.... ALEX!" the voice seemed quiet and disjointed but it was still there. "Sam, Sam is that you?" my voice was hoarse and scratchy as I called out to my comrade. "Alex? Alex" I heard his voice become clearer and was soon joined with another "Captain Phoenix, Lieutenant Harris its Kat. I'm here with Nathan and Ryan. Where are you?" I looked around me to see if I could see anything significant, something that could be used to locate me but I came up empty. "Kat, its Lieutenant Harris. I'm heading towards a tall building, it seems to be a block of flats, its north of my position. Are you able to locate Captain Phoenix?" My head began to spin and a hot liquid flowed past my fingers I looked down to see my hand covered in blood. Kats voice filled my ears, "No, I'm unable to. My scanners aren't working; I'm not able to lock onto his position." The spinning got worse and my heart beat raced, I couldn't breathe. I realised I was going into shock, I clenched my fists as I tried to steady myself looking up towards the sky praying that they would find me soon.
I closed my heavy eyes as my intercom made a loud screeching noise, making me wince, and then it cut dead. I was alone; I had no other way to communicate with my team; it was then I accepted the situation I was in. Taking what seemed to be my last breathes I heard footsteps heading towards me. They were light, delicate, perfectly placed; the sound of something metal creaked as the person manoeuvred their way towards me. And then a voice close to my ear, their breath fanning across my face. "It's okay, were here to help. Just hang on" A pressure was placed against my head, a hand; it was warm against my cold skin, stopping the flow of blood that trickled down my cheek. I then heard another voice, it was definitely male, and they spoke to the other person. "This panel, it could be pressing down on any injuries he may have, moving it may be fatal..."he sounded concerned but it was matched with the other voice "Yes, but if we don't move it, it will kill him anyway. It will be a horrible way to go. We have more chance to save him if we move it." I soon clicked on to the voice it was a female one, she sounded more reasonable, knowledgeable. I groaned as an attempt to make them aware that I could hear them, only to be shushed by the girl. The weight on my chest began to lighten; I slowly opened one eye to see a man and a female figure slowly lift the panel away. I was finally able to breathe properly, the air rushed into my lungs filling them. "thank you" I breathed opening both my eyes to see two brown ones looking back at me, the girl smiled softly "it's okay, rest now." I closed my eyes again, finally allowing the darkness to swallow me up.
