"If you throw a penny into the fountain and make a wish, it should come true," your mother said as she had her hand placed on your back. You smiled up at her and held the penny in both your hands, closing your eyes. You opened your eyes and delicately threw the penny into the fountain and leaned over and watched the penny fall into the water.

"When will it come true?" you asked, looking up at your mum. She smiled at you gently and caressed your hair.

"It will come true as long as you don't tell anyone. It will take as long as it needs to come true" she said.

"Do wishes really come true from this fountain?" a little boy asked, causing you and your mother to turn and look at him. He had brown hair and glasses on. Your mother smiled at him brightly as she pulled her purse out of her handbag. She opened her purse and pulled out a penny and handed it to the little boy, a bright smile on her face.

"Of course they do! Make a wish now and hopefully, it'll come true; but you can't tell anyone!" your mother said and the boy grinned at her.

He closed his eyes and grasped the penny in his hands firmly. After a couple of seconds, he opened his eyes and threw the penny in. He smiled brightly at you and your mother.

"Thank you for the penny miss," he said and she smiled at him.

"It's okay dear. Where is your mother?" she asked and he turned around and pointed at a lady sitting at a table in the cafe nearby.

"Run back to her now dear. I want to ensure you get to your mummy safe and sound" your mum says and the boy nodded. He waved at you both and then ran back to his mother, who smiled at him as he ran towards her.

You took ahold of your mother's hand and you both began to walk away from the fountain and towards your house. You turned and waved at the little boy once more before turning around.

10 YEARS LATER

You sat on the edge of the fountain, smiling down at the book in your hands. The sun was out and it was a nice sunny day. You were engrossed in your book that you weren't aware of your surroundings. You didn't notice the brunette man sit on the bench opposite you and pull out the exact same book as you. But he noticed. He looked at the book in your hands and then the book in his hands and chuckled lightly.

Your phone starting ringing in your pocket which caused you to groan as you were pulled out of your book and back into reality.

"Hello mum," you said, bookmarking your place so you didn't lose it.

"Are you at the fountain?" she asked and you slowly began to look around the park.
