Chapter 9

I froze in my spot with my right foot in front of the left. What am I going to tell her now?
Oh hey mom I went to the hospital and spent my money to buy food for this boy and then he took me to his house.

Does that sum it all up? Yes it does but will my mom take it a different way? Yes she definitely will. She'll say that I skipped school and went to a boy's house to have sex.

"I was at the hospital." Right there I was telling the truth but just not all of it.

"You expect me to believe that? It's past 5 in the evening and school ends at 3. Where have you been?" I'm surprised she knows when school gets over. But whatever she's still assuming things.

"I was at the hospital mom. You can call and check for my name. I'm not lying." I really am trying my best to convince her that I was at the hospital.

Just as she was about to lash out on me, there was a knock on the door.

"Go to your room you slut. And don't come out, I have company."
Just now noticing, she's wearing a red dress that hits mid thigh and it has a very low cut neckline which shows that she's not wearing a bra. She also has on shiney black stilettos. Her hair and make up are very well done as usual and she is wearing her lot of jewellery.

I gladly lead myself to the stairs taking two at a time just so I could hurry up and not get caught by her 'company'. Most of the people that she brings home doesn't know she has a daughter. The only way they find out, and when I say 'they' I mean the men that she has here 99.99% of the time - is when I'm in the kitchen and they just waltz in looking for an early morning drink. Sometimes when they ask who I am, I feel pretty hurt that my mom is so ashamed of me that she doesn't even talk about me, but I just mask it and tell them that I'm the Neighbor and I come over at early mornings to take out the garbage. That's the lamest thing to come up with but I'm always on the spot and it always comes to mind. They buy it since half their brain is always still not functioning at the early hours. I sometimes have to just put in my earphones because of how loud they get. Yes I mean sexually. And that is what I'll be doing tonight, plugging in my earphones.

I opened my room door and threw my bag at the foot of the bed. I completely forgot about my shift at the cafe today. I know Mrs. J wont mind but I'll have to work double shift on wednesday.

I took a hot shower and got in some comfortable pyjamas since I won't be leaving my room anytime soon and I was really getting hungry. I'll just bare it though.

I plugged in my earphones and started listening to some Shawn Mendes songs. I really am in love with Shawn Mendes. He puts me in a good mood. His voice is so soothing.

After two hours, it was 7:30 pm so I slowly made my way down the stairs. I kept praying that I don't get caught. Good thing the kitchen lights were still on. I wouldn't want to turn them on incase my mother and her partner are still awake. I took my time to open the fridge and took our a bottle of water. I then turned to the counter and took an apple from the bowl that was placed in the middle of the counter. I think that should do the trick. I would have to cook if I wanted anything else since all I buy is home made foods. As I was about to go to my room, I heard deep chuckles and high pitched giggles coming towards the kitchen. I hurriedly ducked at the back of the Island where I can't be spotted, only if they decided to come around the other side. What would possess them to do that? I stayed silent and listened as they shuffled atop around and flirting. Gag.

When I no longer heard them, I still waited. Wouldn't want to pop my head up and end up staring straight into my moms eyes now would we?

When I heard a door close, I decided to take that as my cue to leave. I stood up and sprinted to the stairs and got in bed with my water and apple. I munched and sipped until the hunger aching in my belly stopped.
