Author's note
Hey! This is my best story. And I would love for you to comment things I could fix for future chapters. I created the idea for this story at a summer camp. I actually didn't come up with the plot for this story. I hope you enjoy this dystopian society novel. And also I'm so sorry that this story takes FOREVER to update!!! Here is the first chapter of the story ON THE VERGE.

Elizabeth Year 2116
I blink my eyes open on the warm summer morning. Mackenzie had come over last night and left at midnight.
It's been six years since we both met Brandon, he hardly talks to us though. His family, two older sisters and brother, are all soldiers for the Bergue.
Although it's not pronounced the way it looks. Which in my opinion is stupid, but Ruby needed everything perfect. So anyway, it's actually pronounced Bergay, but for some reason Ruby wanted it to be like that.
So Bergue is my country. After the fall of the United States weak government, this new leader came to power.
Her name is Ruby Faithcal. She seems like she can run our government pretty well. Not including the fact that there isn't any school. My parents teach me all I need to know when they get home from work. Rudy doesn't do any speeches, or anything that she might get spotted. I wonder why. It's been three years since she came to power, I was only thirteen at the time. Ruby will lead our country the right way.
I hear the doorbell ring and I snap out of my daze. I get out of bed and down the stairs, to the door.
Opening the wooden door, I see Mackenzie. I hug my friend. She smiles in greeting."My parents already left for work, so I came here." Mackenzie says as she steps inside. "It's so early!"
I look around and reply, "come to think of it I don't see my parents either."
Mackenzie nods in a silent agreement. She seems to be going into one of her thinking modes. I sigh a bit then think over where they could be as well.
We head out of my house after a bit of that, and we decide to go to Brandon's house and see what he's doing. But for some odd reason he isn't there.
"That's so strange where could everyone be?" I look up and down the street.
Mackenzie goes wide eyed. "It must be the zombie apocalypse!!" But just as she says it, a car pulls out of one of the driveways and drives down the street. "Oh, never mind."
"Let's go back to my house, find something productive to do in the mean time." I suggest.
Mackenzie shrugs so we head to my house again. We walk in the door looking up and down and all around for something to do. Then after looking upstairs I find Mackenzie in my freezer, she is holding a spoon and has a tub of ice cream.
"Mackenzie!" I squeal, "stop my parents will kill me if they find the ice cream gone!" But I end up grabbing a spoon too and we share the rest of the ice cream. We laugh a little.
I'm sixteen years old but sometimes I act like I'm six. Mackenzie too, but she's not turning sixteen for another month.
I'm pretty sure Brandon and Charlotte Lamar are both sixteen too. Charlotte went to school with us. Her whole family is soldiers for the Bergue.
Brandon has brown hair and bright blue eyes. Which is amazing compared to my dull blonde hair and boring green eyes. I have a little crush on him because of it.
But that's not the point.
Mackenzie and I sit around all day, still having absolutely nothing to do. Five o' clock comes faster than we realize and there is a knock on the door.
