I was standing in a blank space in his mind. There was nothing there. No horrible thoughts, nothing traumatizing him at night. I pulled back until I was staring into his eyes back in the bar. I blinked a few times and felt my cheek crack. I let go of his face and pressed my hand to the glass like texture my skin was taking form of in that spot. It was already starting to heal itself and transform back to flesh. He was looking at me curiously, his face serious.
"You have no fears... strange." It came out as a murmur. I hadn't run across many people who didn't. This was a very rare occurrence indeed. Once my cheek was back to normal I removed my hand, then went back to getting the keg changed.
"Yep guys! He's a whack job, stay away from him!" I called out and chuckled, shaking my head. Everyone seemed to relax at my words, which was weird. But they were also all really stupid. I finally got the keg changed and walked back over to Dabi, pouring him another glass.
"So you really are a doll, huh?" He had noticed my skin before. I cursed mentally and looked away for a moment acting like I was cleaning something off. "Uh, kinda. It's the side effect to my quirk."
"Which is? Eye glowing? Not very intimidating I gotta say." He obviously hadn't ever looked at his own.
"My quirk is Fear. You just happen to have none of those, so my quirk will do fuck all on you. But take Goro over there-" I was leaning against the bar, like he was, glancing out at the patrons, pointing out a skinny man with tattoos all over his face. "I made him piss his pants with it. He wouldn't leave his house for a month."
"Shut the fuck up (f/n)! Quit telling everyone!"
"Don't feel bad man, I was screaming like a fucking little girl on the floor over there."
"You think that's bad? I still have nightmares over that shit."
"So what, you show people their fears?" Dabi seemed very interested.
"Basically. I have to be staring at and touching you. I can go into your mind and pull out your greatest fears, making them come to life inside here." I poked his forehead. "I can control the intensity. I can either have you pissing yourself or I can make it so unbearable you'll cut your own throat to get out of it."
He perked up. "Ooh that would have been fun."
I couldn't help the evil smirk that came across my face. "You have no idea."
"Creepy little doll... I'm into it." He winked at me, finishing off his second drink. I poured another, then went and got a few more beers, sliding them down to the other side of the bar for the guys timidly asking for refills. There was a crack of thunder and the lights blinked. I looked up, and then outside the dusty window. The streets were practically flooded. I scrunched up my nose, realizing that I wasn't going to be able to go out for fun after work. Well that just fucking sucked.
"What's with the face, kitten?" It was almost a purr. He was right up in my ear, I could feel his breath on my neck. I felt my head crane to the side to give him access, my lip going in between my teeth.
"I had plans after work I'm not going to be able to see through." My eyes went to his. Dabi was as close as he felt. I stared back at him with the same intensity. He smelled like burning wood, cigarettes, and whiskey. It was comforting in a strange way. I stepped away and came from behind the bar to collect empty glasses before taking them to the sink in the middle of the bar.
"I'm going to assume your name's (f/n), right?" He was staring into his glass as he held it, taking slow sips.
"Yup. Why? Wanna know who's name you'll be screaming out later?" My face was smug.
