Cullen Bradshaw hated sleeping. Every time he closed his eyes, he would be plagued by dreams that would haunt him throughout the day. They weren't necessarily nightmares, but the amount of detail and bizarre events that occurred always left him waking up in a cold sweat, and the boy wished he could just stay awake forever. The only relief he could get from the dreams were when he drew them, whether it was him painting or just sketching with charcoal, being able to place his dreams on paper were the only thing that kept him from going insane. Anytime he ever reached out to anyone about his nightly occurrences, they would just brush it off to a wicked imagination, but the amount of creatures and symbols that found its way into his head never made any sense. How could he make something like that up?
The worst dreams were the ones where he started to imagine an entire person. Most people would dream of scenarios with people they had met before, but after years of seeing the same boy over and over again, he knew in his soul he had never seen him before. Cullen got to the point where he felt as if his brain started to create someone in his dreams to help him deal with everything else in them.
So imagine Cullen's surprise when he realized the boy from his dreams was actually very real, and he might not be as crazy as he thought he was. Or maybe it made him more crazy. He couldn't really tell the difference anymore.
