Ice Skates || Park Sunghoon

Seollim sat on the bench, watching the ice skaters go round and round the rink, many of them performing tricks she knew she'd likely never be able to do. But that was okay. She wasn't here to be a professional figure skater. She was here to take her mind off of everything; to have fun.

She angrily swiped at the tears running down her cheeks. Fired from yet another job, and this one with the best pay that she'd gotten so far.

Her boss had always been strict, always been prickly, but it had been okay. She'd been taking money home. She'd been helping out her family and putting aside money, hopefully enough to get her through college, assuming she'd get a lot of financial aid.

But now she'd been fired.

She closed her eyes, letting the hot tears trickle down her face. She'd have to find another job. Another one that let her work hours after school.

When she got home, she'd have to fill out more job applications.

She wasn't doing such a good job of taking her mind off everything.

Leaning down, she started tying the laces of her skates, but she was having trouble seeing through her tears, and her fingers kept fumbling, making her increasingly frustrated.

She was truly ready to take off the skates and throw them far, far away, when someone came over.

The stranger, a handsome young man, crouched down in front of her, wordlessly tying them for her.
