Some people say that there are friendships that can transcend lives, sometimes not even as the same species. There was once two girls, Reneé and Grace, closer than the leaves on trees. They were friends since they were only kids, meeting back when they were both too young to talk. Eventually, that friendship bloomed into something more. They watched the stars from the rooftop and watched as the seasons pass together. One night while they were stargazing, Reneé promised Grace that they would never be separated as long as one of them still lived. Time exploded like a bullet from a gun, days turn to months, months turned to years, and soon there was one without the other. She missed her best friend and wife, but she knew that Reneé would have never wanted Grace to be stuck in the past. Soon a little orange cat showed up on the doorstep of Grace's home. Grace decided that the cat must be someone else's, so she asked everyone in the neighborhood to see if it was theirs. No one knew the cat or where it came from. With no other options, Grace decided to just keep the cat. At first Grace didn't exactly like the cat very much, she usually just kind of sat around and didn't really do much. But as time went on she noticed little habits that the cat had that reminded her of Reneé, looking out the window with the same wistful look in her eyes, the same infatuation with even the simple things. After a while Grace decided to go back up to the roof where she and Reneé always used to stargaze. That's where she saw the little orange cat gazing at the stars. In that moment she knew, Reneé has kept her promise, she came back as the little orange cat.
