It was really cold outside, and Mary took my sweat shirts and jacket away from me. There were bruises up my arm and legs, one under my eye. It was really noticeable.

I left the house at 5:30 AM, and the bus doesn't come until 8:45. Around 7:30 the cars started to pass me, looking at me sadly. I didn't like it. I tried to hide the bruises but they were too big.

One car stopped. I stepped back, and tried to look horrified. It must of worked because he drove away. A few cars slowed down, to examine me, look at my bruises. I just backed up and hid them with my hands.

A cop car drove by. He saw me. He stopped, came up to me and crouched down to look me in the eyes.

"Hello, young lady. My name is Charlie. Are you alright?" He said sadly.

"Yes." I whispered and covered my bruises.

He took my hand and moved them. He lifted one eyebrow. I assumed he wanted to know what happened.

"I fell, a couple times." I said. I was a really bad lier. He looked as he didn't believe me. I mean, I wouldn't either.

"Do you promise?" Charlie said.

"Yes." I whispered, trying to not look into his eyes. I failed. I met his gaze and I felt my face get red.

"Okay, I believe you." He said, while walking back to his cop car. He didn't sound like be believed me, but at least he was leaving.

"Wait!" I yelled. "What time is it?"

"It's 8:40. Have fun at school! What grade are you in?" Charlie asked.

"I'm in preschool." I said.

"That's so cool. Well, I will see you later!" He said sounding happy.

"Bye." I whispered, looking at my freezing feet. Mary took my tennies. I has sandals on.

I didn't look at the car, or Charlie again. I heard the cop car door shut, and heard the engine drive away.

...

I sit alone on the bus. I always do. I have no fiends, because no one likes me. Everyone thinks I am stupid, and I don't have a voice. I never talk, to anyone at school, because on my first day of school, Jessica hit me.

This boy I never saw got on the bus. A paper air plain accidentally hit him. I giggled.

He came and sat by me. He was cute. He had short black hair. He was wearing a navy green sweatshirt, with blue jeans and brown boots.

"Hey! My name is Jacob. Do you want my jacket? You look cold." He said, taking his sweatshirt off. He had another one on, a red one.

"Thanks." I whispered.

He talked to me the entire time. He was really nice. He understood I was shy, so he talked most of the time. I answered questions, like my favorite color, how old I was.

We were in the same class. He was introduced in the front of the class, which made him blush. It was funny, and I giggled.

His seat was at my table group, next to me.

"Do you like school?" He whispered to me.

"Not really." I whispered back, giggling silently. He giggled back.

...

On the way back home, I had to walk. I missed the bus, because me and Jacob were talking, and we got distracted. He missed the bus too, so we walked home together.

"Do you want to play?" He asked.

"What do you mean?" I said, crooking my head. I became really comfortable with Jacob in that quick day.

"My house, or your house? Like a play date? We could do our reading homework together!" He said exited.

'What about Mary?' I wondered. I didn't tell Jacob about Mary yet. Not yet, I think it would scare him.

"I have to go to the store. Sorry Jake." I said looking at my toes.

"It's okay, maybe another time!" He said.

"Hey Bella," he asked. "What happened to you arms, legs, and your eye, and why didn't you dress warm?" Jacob asked.

"I fell." I whispered.

"Oh." He said. It didn't sound like he believed me, but we got to my house.

"Here is your jacket." I said, taking of my backpack, and then the sweatshirt.

"Oh you can keep it." He said, nodding his head.

"No, it's okay." I handed him the sweatshirt. "Bye, will you be at school tomorrow?" I asked.

"Yeah, I will see you then!" He yelled, running to his house.

I giggled. "Okay bye!" I yelled back.

Then Mary opened the front door.
