Curtains are drawn, lights turning off. The city sleeps but her. Every time nightfall comes, she stands there waiting for that precious moment to arrive.
As soon as the clock reads 00:00, she quietly goes to her backyard and with all the lights off, she looks up to the sky. Tonight is one of her lucky days, the sky is clear and the stars are visible. With a shy smile on her face, she takes a deep breath and walks carefully to not wake up anyone or get caught because her mother wouldn't approve, she never has.
On her way, she caught sight of flowers that reminded her of him, thinking she could give those to him when she arrives. She grabbed a few of them while memories came back rushing at her. She made sure she was presentable for him when she left the house, she always does. Just a couple of streets and she'll arrive. She walks faster.
Finally, she gets to the gate, the one that has made her feel all those emotions at once, because as soon as she crosses it, she will see him again. She breathes deeply and pushes the gate open, they forgot to lock it, again. The grass is neatly cut and watered. With the flowers in hand and a beating heart, she looks for him. It's been three years since she has been doing this every night. Such a long time yet it seems yesterday when it occurred.
