All in all, it had been a good day for Dr. Eggman. He had finally thrown the irritating Team Freedom from his trail, destroyed Albion with one shot, and launched his Mecha Knuckles robot. All that, and he still had a roboticized Princess Sally Acorn on his side.

Yes, it had been a very good day for the doctor.

Except for that girl.

Dr. Eggman leaned back in his captain’s chair aboard the Death Egg and stroked his mustache as he always did when in deep meditation. The girl he’d transformed with the intention of using her knowledge to his benefit kept constantly slipping from his grasp like a fistful of water. No matter how many times he caught her, no matter who he went through to get to her, no matter where on this blasted planet he took her, the girl had always managed to escape from him somehow. Yes, Sonic had been involved in one rescue, but that didn’t excuse the others!

The Casino Night Zone. He had taken her to the other side of the world, where no one was supposed to find her, and she still got away! Not only that, but he had been tracking her since then and discovered that the Chaotix were protecting her now. That was a thorn he did not want in his side. Though he hated to admit it, she was safe for now.

“Well, my dear,” Eggman said at last, growling in irritation, “if you think you’ve seen the last of me, you’d better think again.” He folded his hands and hunched forward in his seat, glaring at the main view screen. “I’m far from finished with you.”
